hi nemova....

this is the sweater in question...i really adore it..

it's just to long and loose...
so instead of looking really cute on me...it sort of bunches at the waist because it is too long...
making me look sort of 'thick'...
:ninja:...

*not good.......

that's a gorgeous cardigan! their stuff.

i am feeling very uninspired by my wardrobe right now.:judge:

need to purge shoes and buy new jeans.

I need a new wardrobe for uni, and am seriously lacking good basics, just not sure where to start??

^ I think Target is one of the best stores for good, not to mention inexpensive, basics. I'd recommend buying some plain shirts, a coat or jacket, black pants, jeans, etc. Basically, get generic pieces that you can mix and match to create numerous outfits.

i just got lods of basics from town today; and i love to mix and match coloured tshirts together with jeans and white nike trainers. Im loving the colour grey at the moment.
i love grey hoodies and slim fit jeans.

Target's good. And I know this sounds crazy, but I went to Old Navy the other day and actually found some great basics. I've never been a fan because their stuff tends to look a bit cheap, but I really like my new purchases. They're great layering pieces, look good, and didn't cost much. You do have to dig a bit, though.

^ Once in a while Old Navy has a good thing or two... but no more than two! I find that most of their tops aren't long enough, but they do have some basics that are specifically for layering.

In the past I have overlooked Target's regular priced items and have headed straight to the 75% off racks. Maybe I should concentrate on their normal-priced clothing, as well.

I'm feeling very drawn to the idea of sticking to a personal uniform.

Maybe it's my age, or just wanting to prioritize mental space for other things right now. But I really want getting dressed to be easy. I want variations of the same things...good dark trousers, slim skirts and boots. I just need to figure out the top part...always so much harder for me, for some reason...:ermm:

An excellent way to put it. For me, however, easy dressing involves one piece: a dress. Funny how people think you've made such an effort to "dress up" when you put on a dress -- when in fact, it's the easiest, most wearable item in the closet!

I am willing to splurge more on dresses, beautiful shoes, less on other things now.

^ Yes! I have come to adore dresses, lately... but I sway more toward more casual dresses so that I do not look or feel too overdressed when going to, say, the mall.

Don't worry, I also head towards the sale racks first! Sometimes their regular priced items can be too expensive for me, and often times you can find pieces you've liked in the past (that were originally in the regular department) for a cheaper price. :)

^ Ah, yes, a smart shopper, you are, sean. :flower:

Okay... I think I have quite a persistent style all over but sometimes I just feel like wearing things that aren't really me... like my summer wardrobe I can never wear what I can in the winter months that is where the trouble begins.. I like minimalistic no-fuss clothing often quite body-con and most of all black however I can't do that look in summer so I am always having trouble finding chic clothing for summer.

I guess I like smock type short dresses worn with sandals or ballet flats ... I am thinking which bag to get for summer shall i go with a splash of colour (thinking new YSL blue)or stick with safe black Chanel w/silver hardware?

I'm always having trouble finding inspiration for the summer..

i don't know pucci... i would go for a chanel ...because i feel you're building a 'forever' wardrobe. And reading that you've barely used your taupe prada..maybe you don't want to plunge into a blue muse. obviously it's always a good time to 'grow' and add elements to your style and the bag question is only an example of your 'dilemma' ...

aris, you have the dress, no? I like it although it's completely impractical for me. Is it very flattering as nap says-- the yoke shape flatters and draws in the waist... ?

justlooking, unfortunately I don't have it..... yet

Sometimes I tink I look too cute... I don't want to look like a homeless person, but I'm getting too old for all this cuteness. It's not that I wear pink pussybows all day long, but I always find myself in ballet flats and dresses. It looks too cute! Don't know how to un-cute

I really love Erin Wasson's style, if that's any help...

The Ida I have had that problem my whole life, that I look really young and 'cute' so I'm always avoiding not looking too cute in the way I dress. I think getting dresses or skirts tailored so they are short can make the look less cute. If you wear a white smock type dress add some black semi sheer tights.
Heels instead of flats.

aris thanks for the tip but like justlooking said that dress is completeley impractical for me, but navy is a great colour for summer  I am looking for a easy dress in navy for summer.
What I also find with my summer wardrobe is that I never want to spend too much money on it, summer clothes never seem to last for me as they are light colours they are also easy to get dirty so..every season I get a new white dress and every season it needs to be replaced.

yeah, I think I have decided on the Chanel caviar after all I want to go for classics (classics by my opinion that is) rather than seasonal items. ;)

I am getting these when they come in store here.

Can't wear heels, I ride my bike 5 km to school and I walk a lot too  Maybe if we get a car, but for now heels are only for going out.

I always wear sheer tights (when it's not too cold), but getting skirts and dressestailored is an excellent idea! I tend to look like a little girl because I have a small frame - narrow shoulders, small hands, small feet, small everything  Legs are good, and luckily I have long legs. But I'm still not sure about footwear...it must be flats, but ballerinas are getting tired.

^ Chunky shoes are much easier to walk in than heels, and adds that much needed toughness to a lot of dresses! Practise really does make perfect! I used to think the same way.. always flats but now I alternate and I always have a flat pair with me, after all heels makes me feel good!

You could also add some chunky jewellery whatever your preference..silver or gold.. I am looking for a chunky gold ring to add as a statement piece. I am really particular it must be a bit masculine, but also minimalist and it must feel unique.

Also long dresses (think the Rick Owen's type) worn under a cropped leather jacket looks so good and very chic!
Have you thought about red lipstick? i think you would looks stunning with some with your blond hair it's a really cool contrast!

That's so funny, BF's mom begs me to wear something on my lips  If only I could stop picking them

I think something Rick Owens-y would be neat as well. Simple can look so tough. I think I can do body-con too, a great way to do it for day would be layering sheer tank dresses. I just need to find some cheap ones, I think American Vintage makes some. Does anyone know this brand? Or any other brand that makes tank dresses?

I have also been wanting a ring for some time (hello BF :D)... But for now I have to make do with my pierced ears. I wear 3 simple "diamond" studs in each ear. I really love getting my ears pierced, it tickles :p
