Hello Puccimama - you and I are one in the same color-wise. I, too, adore black, but have come to realize it is not incredibly practical in the hotter months. Why don't you try whites, grays, and muted tones such as olives, dusty pinks, and gray-ish blues? And pair it all with brashly elegant, minimalistic footwear? You can also do linen dresses, too. Something with subtle ethnic undertones, maybe?

^ Okay... I adore black but it's not the only colour I have I do actually own some white dresses, and sheer white or grey t-shirts have always been a staple. And some navy.. I also have a taupe tea dress.. when I feel more feminine.. I guess I do once in a while.

I bought a fitted olive leather jacket w 3/4 sleeves... don't really know what I was thinking as I have no clue what to wear it with.. or maybe olive simply does not look good on me.

The thing is nothing ever makes me feel as strong and good as black. I love the colour palette which you mentioned, very Marni-ish.
Perhaps I should write them down when I have a look through the shops. To remind myself to inject some colour.

^Olive + white/offwhite top + grey jeans/tights= nice
Olive + dark green = nice

Olive is just...nice

I usually always go for black, grey or white, but for the coming spring I want to add a bit of colour to my wardrobe. I went out and bought a blazer and jersey shirt in a muted, grayish blue. One step at a time. :p

Can't wear heels, I ride my bike 5 km to school and I walk a lot too  Maybe if we get a car, but for now heels are only for going out.

I always wear sheer tights (when it's not too cold), but getting skirts and dressestailored is an excellent idea! I tend to look like a little girl because I have a small frame - narrow shoulders, small hands, small feet, small everything  Legs are good, and luckily I have long legs. But I'm still not sure about footwear...it must be flats, but ballerinas are getting tired.

How do you feel about flat boots?
I know they are a bit tired b/c they have been everywhere this past fall/winter but they are so practical.

I love flat boots. I live in my vintage Gabor boots, dark brown with croc panels. I think I need flat ankle boots, I just haven't seen any lately (that I can afford :D)

I'm feeling very drawn to the idea of sticking to a personal uniform.

Maybe it's my age, or just wanting to prioritize mental space for other things right now. But I really want getting dressed to be easy. I want variations of the same things...good dark trousers, slim skirts and boots. I just need to figure out the top part...always so much harder for me, for some reason...:ermm:

that is a very appealing idea!

I know what you mean, especially in regards to my work clothes. I want easy, yet stylish, pieces that I can just pick out and have ready for the morning. At times I think "what am I going to wear tomorrow, what?" but with more standardized pieces perhaps it will make picking out my work outfits a bit easier - and more speedy.

I don't think there is any point fighting it... I can never, ever have too much black.

I recently pulled a few black tops back into wardrobe rotation, and I have to say, it felt really good to be wearing black. I felt more severe, strict even, but also subtle. It might sound funny to say that, but there is something about it that fits my mood perfectly right now. I think I'm on the hunt for more..

^ Lucky for you (us), it's easy to find.

Just bought these pieces, I'm really happy about them. The sandals are kinda tough (very lovely colour), and bought the skirts to show off my legs (less cute, more...leggy?). The dress is for going out, also a bit tougher...sheer black tights and killer heels. Not cute at all B)

im considering selling my balenciaga.. next month ive had it a year, but the last 4-5 months ive only worn it 3 times or so.. its a really beautiful bag, but being so expensive, it feels a little weird to keep it. i could get other stuff i'd wear more instead, and wearing so much black these days, i almost always turn to the gray giorgio brato or black tigerofsweden. i wore it last the 14th february:

i assume i could get maybe 800$ for it. what do you guys think?

i find that very often, i'm dressed in various shades of blue... navy, light blue, blue denim, and i got this striped shirt with the most gorgeous shade of blue, it's really *BRIGHT* but not in a loud way. i find it hard to describe....

i really wonder if there'll be one day where i wake up and think "ew... blue". that'd be horrible. i'd have to redo my ENTIRE wardrobe.

same here! haha.. my closet consits of blue black & grey i think.
i always try to find sth different while shopping, but then i end up with buying sth of these colours

the good thing about blue is that is looks very casual and goes with virtually any other color. it's my personal black. there's indigo-ish navy when i wanna dress dark, light blue when i want it more casual. blue goes all the way without being another color really! (okay, there's teal and turquoise....)

and there's this wonderful preppyness when blue is paired with beige or brown.

The_Ida - How are you planning on wearing those skirts? I have a similar one in grey from topshop but am stuck on how to wear it.

I also love that dress you brought! I've had my eye on it for ages!

Long camisole + long cardigan + bandage skirt = pure love.
Long-sleeved sheer tee + bandage skirt = more love.
I'll just wear them instead of jeans, I think  I don't mind showing a little leg.

Don't know if I'll do the belt-thing...I have a nice narrow deep purple belt, cute, but belts are getting tired. And I can't wait to get that dress, perfectly sl*tty for going out
