well...to be fair...she said i was a little goth...

my first reaction was...

and i guess it's true..
i AM a little goth...




and i think i like it!...

Get this all the time it ends up being funny. For example I am in class and my teacher is talking about picking our opposite stereotype and he uses me as an example "Sophia should not pick goth" and I was like then I was like well I guess that is ok . I wear black listen to gothy ish music as in The Cure Joy Division and so on. I say embrace it as long as your are not mall goth

I get called Goth all the time by people because I have dark brown hair, fair skin and I wear a lot of black... I'm not a goth though

^ I really can relate to this (dark hair, fair skin, black clothes etc) Sometimes I get annoyed by people calling me a goth...but I think now I'm pretty used to it. Though I have to say that sometimes I feel not very comfortable with all wearing black because of this But I'm simply not a very colourful person

* i think that people don't know what else to call it so a lot of stuff gets dumped under this 'goth' label...

but i do like tim burton movies and the addams family etc...
and i think vampires are cool ( and sexy ......)
and i like all those deeply dramatic romantic gothic novels...like wuthering heights...
and i am into alfred hitchcock films and such....

i don't really call that goth because it's definitely elevated beyond the mall......
like the difference between our NEO gothic thread and the GOTH thread...

but i guess most people don't know what else to call it..
so yeah...
whatever....
if they think i'm a little goth...so be it!...

Right, let's get on that. Here is my rough draft:

Goth is an extremely diverse subculture that is based on loosely shared aesthetics rather than a political/social/philosophical ideology (unlike punk, for example). As such, "goth" means completely different things to different people. Some goths happily wear all colors of the rainbow and listen to the Spice Girls. The media tends to grab onto the most extreme (and often negative) examples. No one has the right to label you as a goth. You are a goth ONLY if you identify yourself as one, no matter what colors you wear or what music you listen to, and especially no matter what anyone calls you.

(I dont really know any others but you get the idea oh and it would also need to include pics of all the different groups)

that's why i got bugged ...
i just can't stand labels...
there is no way i am that easy to put into a box...

i've come to the conclusion that all stylish/cool people are a little bit gothic...
just look at givenchy's gold chains and leather...prada's lace...mcqueen...comme des garcons/yohji...even tom ford's gucci had gothic elements...
let's face it...
a lot of that stuff is really sexy and cool...when done in a tasteful and elegant way...
it always has been...and it always will be...


it just sucks that the label has so many negative associations attached to it ..

What do you guys think about wearing white tights? I think they rarely work.

For the most part they are really unflattering & make your legs look so stumpy ... & I always think of little girls in kindergarten whenever I see anyone wearing them ...

white tights are sort of goth to me...
they remind me of wednesday addams...

they do have a little girl vibe about them...
or a sexy nurse...
they're sort of subversively sexy if you pull them off well...

imo....

my friend is really into them....
and she definitely always has a little goth schoolgirl thing going on...
even though it's subtle ...and you might not get it right away...
that is definitely the undercurrent....
they're kinky/quirky!....
