Phoebe Philo - Designer

I think if she is launching her brand, she should bring new ideas. Otherwise, it is going to feel old Céline again (and the problem is that there are hundreds of brands out there which are still replicating it..and making it look burned as hell).

She could make new things while still having her style. One thing does not detract from the other.
She is coming back. It makes totally sense for her to reclaim her heritage. There are fresh ideas even if they are not obvious but for me it makes totally sense. The brand will evolve as her aesthetic at Celine evolved.
But I feel like the people who missed her enjoyed it. I think it also helps that the brand she worked for evolved into something else.

People associate her style with what she did at Celine so coming and saying « I’m Phoebe philo and here I am doing something else » would be weird.

i do agree i don't like seeing to much of the Celine 2.0 at PP even the music for the c collection is same as her old Celine soundtrack, its a bit too on the nose but i think it could be just the start so its obvious to new and old clientes i would think to be so bluntly reclaiming almost her design codes or style.

but to be fair repeating does create a brand authenticity its first boring but then it becomes reliable and classic, i do hope the balance of newnes in her yet to be done collections is bigger i agree.

but i think she instinctively follows her guts even if making mistakes she is onto something for the long run.

i'm so over the Celine copies but i have to give it to her when she does it it just feels more real & better done than her many copies and even when i find most abit on the boring side, i still love it and if i was a woman would wear it now.

I can see that happening and now I’m interested to see her lg in reality now that you have done the comparison in detail .
The row use great leather too in my opinion but I am only familiar with the Margaux though
i would compare it like: The Row has nice leather but the fabrication of the leathergoods is on the industrial side (flat and straightforward),
where as PP style of doing leather goods the craft of making/construction of the bags is integrated in the design.

Also Phoebe said previously she created clothes for herself. Her Chloe was for the 20-30s Phoebe, and her Celine was for her 40s self. PP (the brand) is now for her 50s era. Most women change their styles between 20 and 40 but not much after that. It makes sense for her PP to be a sequel of her Celine. Even the models reflect the age.
