I can't believe that Wintour has that much pull. US Vogue is so boring and repetitive. Why does this woman have so much power? I hope the Chloe execs don't listen to her.

I hate american vogue ,it's so commercial.
I prefer french vogue

that's not a solution at all.....this is ridiculous

what? are we going to see yet another brand that pops out boring "pleasing anna" fashion each season (cough kors cough)...this is a treagedy:(

i think a great solution would have been to just let the creative team do the work. it seems to be working for maxmara...

i don t get why Mouret s gonna be the designer, didn t the creative team do good when Phoebe was out during her pregnancy???
and Phoebe was such a good fit with Chloe, i for one won t be liking chloe as much anymore i know it. cuz am sure the style s gonna change

^ i really don't think the Chloe style will change too severely. it already has such an established look, not to mention many fans, and a major change will upset too many people.

Why don't they just just have one of the Chloe team mates step up that's how phobe got her job when stella left chloe. I mean the team did the whole 2005 fall collection by themselves why not?

^^ ditto, thats what we all pray for ..keeping the design team on, they've done an excellent job this far

If they keep the design team on without a lead designer, Chole will be boring forever.

^ there's truth in that too...the fall collection that the team designed was very "commercial". philo's latest one was far more intersting.

You can´t really blame the design team for putting up a less experimental collection for Chloé, after all they just had to fill Phoebe´s niche while she was away during her pregnancy... everything had to look as if she never left the house, so it was expected that the customer would get exactly what they wanted. Let´s not forget that this is a major house with many distributors worldwide, it would have been a big mess if they just started doing something completely different for one season.

If they have to go with a "name" - I'd prefer Derek Lam over Roland Mouret, but ideally I'd prefer an internal recruit like a lot of you guys I'd like the Phoebe spirit to be preserved or built on not erased with a completely new image that an outsider might bring in. Hope this makes sense??!!

if you look at derek lam's past couple of collections...ther have been some obviously "chloe-inspired":innocent: pieces...

It was getting tired, the whole look was becoming very stereotypical...

She would be better off by herself, starting her own line, and give Chloe another chapter...

it's like at this point she was stretching her welcome to the last string... there's only so much you can give to the customer until they start getting tired of it...

biggest thing/loss to happen to fashion in ages
:o

does anyone remember the gucci GOD, tom ford, i got interested in fashion the season before he left and "i" could feel the impact when he left, really this is nothing to me, the only 2 good collection of hers, at least IMO are the high waisted late seventies denim collection and the new age female rennasaince warrior collection(to lazy to find out the actual seasons).

Phoebe Philo Said Working With Gap

from wwd:

PARIS — Phoebe Philo, who last January resigned from the creative helm at Chloé, appears to have already dipped her toe back into fashion, WWD has learned. According to market sources, Philo has been quietly consulting for Gap in Europe.

Reached late Friday, a Gap spokeswoman in London said: “We’ve been working with a number of external design consultants since we moved the design team to London this summer. The only one we’re talking about publicly is Roland Mouret.”

Earlier this month, Mouret’s capsule collection of dresses arrived in 160 Gap stores in the U.K., Ireland and France, plus a handful of units in New York.

The company indicated it had pumped up its European design team to 35 people. “Design is the way forward on the high street,” Stephen Sunnucks, president of Europe, Gap Inc. International, said at the launch of the Mouret line.

It could not immediately be learned if any of Philo’s design ideas have yet landed on the sales floor of Gap stores. But the retailer’s women’s business, which has been lagging in Europe as well as the U.S., could certainly benefit from the design prowess of Philo, whose feminine dresses and coveted handbags helped catapult Chloé into fashion’s big leagues.

Philo, who has kept a low profile since exiting Chloé, could not be reached for comment.

This would be great and I could see her being a great fit for Gap, much more so than Roland Mouret who has a much different aesthetic and deals with different fabrics. I hope she does a capsule collection or becomes a full time consultant.
