Phoebe Philo - Life After Chloe - *Update* Creative Director for Celine

I agree with you Meg, this would work far better than Mouret's collection. Philo's designs would translate much better to using cheaper fabrics and more mass production, such as at Gap, without compromising her vision. I was disappointed with the Mouret, precisely because the styles that made him famous (ie. the Galaxy dress) could never be reproduced without compromise..and therefore I felt it was lacklustre and unappealing

interesting news.
i guess real designers cannot stay away from designing.............

exactly miu miu. you worded it perfectly.

Thanks Meg! I know one can't expect repeats of what Mouret did for his own label, but really, it had nothing of what was brilliant about those designs. I think Gap has been trying to do a few Chloe/Marc Jacobs-esque pieces anyway, so working with Philo will hopefully add some stronger pieces to this part of the collection and it will work better within the whole Gap aesthetic.

and i thought that she had walked away from it all...
wow...

i wonder what else is going on behind closed doors?...

this sounds like a nice fit, her designs were always very wearable, and so is Gap. hope to see the results soon!!

well, this begs the question of what was (if the one that was given was'nt) the real reason for her leaving Chloe.

im not surprised...nor shocked
i think she makes a good fit with them

i think the process of working with gap is probably less intensive than heading a big brand house
gotta find something to do i suppose

Yea I guess since she's not exactly in charge of the whole designing it takes up much less time and is less pressure as there are a few external designing consultants. I really hope a capsule collection does come out. I was really disappointed with Roland Mouret's to be quite honest. To me, it was quite bleh

i hope she does her infamous braided denim jeans.......i see this collection flying of the shelves...because her stuff is very very wearable.

Oh! I can't wait for what she comes up with. I agree that her designs are very wearable but I also feel that they whole floaty, feminine aesthetic she's into is very 'tired' and overdone. I love her but I hope she comes up with something new.

This would be sooo great:woot: Only if they promise to have it in all Gap stores instead of only some (like with Mouret) so I could be sure to get my hands on it!

i don't even care if the collection is good or not (but knowing phoebe it'll probably be very good)
i just want phoebe working again!!!
come back to us phoebe!!!!!

philo's vision is a perfect fit for gap.

cool, casual, and effortless...which is what they set out to do all of the time, but usually come across as mediocre.

exciting stuff.

is the gap in the UK very different from the gap in the usa? do they stock the same items? i've heard that the uk stores have much more expensive items...

I would give anything for her start her own line. Working with Gap is nice but I don't just want her consulting I want her with her own upstart label. Chloe hasn't been the same without her, they're only just getting themselves in check. Her ideas can be brilliant I just want them to be as grand in scale as what she did for Chloe. Gap is great but just for now.
