'plus' size streetstyle.

^ Dunno, the last two, probably not. But I ADORED the last girl's outift and I had to post it. It's soooo lovely, esp. the tights.

Interesting stuff here. Nice pictures. But I wouldn't really discribe a lot of the girls as 'plussized', but then again, plussize is a size, and I can't see the labels of there clothing to see what size they are wearing (that is why I prefered another term for this thread) I have read people would be offended if they would find a picture of themselfes on this thread. Why is being 'plussized' / fat / big an insult? (even if you are not?)

Last random MisShapes batch for a while. Featuring Kelly Obsourne.

The girl in the blue dress is my friend! I must tell her that she is on here!;)

I'm a fashion stylist who has a speciality in "Plus Sizes". I work for several plus sized lines of clothing on a regular basis .... so I understand exactly what "plus sized" is.

The term "plus size" does refer to a size. In stores it's usually 14W and above, which is very close to a 15 in juniors and a 16 in regular sizes. But just like straight sized models who are usually much smaller than the average woman ... plus sized models are also smaller than the average plus sized girl or woman. Pretty much any size from size 12 and up is considered plus in the modeling world.

So ... in the context of plus sized models ... many of these girls in these might be considered plus sized even though they are perhaps an "average" size in the real world.

I love how most of them look ... and I'm glad that there's an acceptance of that fact right here on tFS! Everyone has the right to enjoy fashion and to be able express their own personal style.

^^ Well said hun!! You're a sweetie   Maybe that's why I consider 12 plus-sized because that's the industry standard. Ford has a plus-size division called "12+"

And kan-i-ta said, you can't exactly see the labels in their clothing, so you can't be sure. I was talking to someone I know who I always assumed wore a size 14 or 16. But we were talking about clothes and it turns out that they wear a size 18/20. And also, about the size 6 thing, I am constantly surrounded by size 6s (yes, I'm the fatty of my group!). My best friend is 5'0" and a size 5, another is 5'5" and a size 6, and another is 5'8" and a size 6. They all have different body shapes and proportions, so it's not like you can just look at someone and tell. I honestly don't think that anyone I posted is a size 6, but hey, ya never know!

;) :flower:

K, let me say this again. Yes, many of the girls in these pictures aren't considered plus-sized. But, on the sites I posted from, I literally went through every picture. And those were the largest I could find. If we were going by 16+, this thread would basically have a handful of pictures. Obviously, according to these street fashion sites at least, people above a size 10 or 12 can't be fashionable.

xmodel ... your choices are good. Some are plus and many are average (but probably a larger size than a fashion model).

And that's the real point here ... you can be fashionable even if you are a larger size than a standard fashion model. It doesn't matter what we call it ... "plus", "average" or even "curvy". Style comes in all sizes and shapes... so it doesn't matter what size the girls are ... it just matters how they put themselves together.

Let's not get hung up on words ... let's just enjoy the images and let's get inspired to create our own personal style! :flower:

Does anyone know where I can see what those sizes are in european sizes?
I have no idea what a size 6 is.

Awesome thread. I'm all chest, so my question is... where do some of these chesty girls find such cute tops? I am plus size, I can wear a 10 or a 12 bottom, but uh, the top is a different story... so this thread is very much appreciated :)

I love this thread, I am plus sized (size 18) and while it's easy for me to find shoes/handbags etc, it takes A LOT of work to find cute fashionable clothing, it's a bit better with classic pieces but not much.
I'd definately not wear quite a few of these pieces, but it's nice seeing anything beyond the standard size 2 :flower:

It would be nice if we could stop arguing about what's plus-size and what's not, and pointing out every person in every post that we don't think is plus-sized. :innocent: It's already been stated that they are just the largest people featured on whatever websites these pictures are coming from. Can't we just ignore the label "plus-size" and look at some pretty pictures please? :flower:
