Prada 2006 Skirt Event

Everyone's comments sound very interesting :o I guess it's like that cutlery skirt--looks like flowers from far away but they're little spoons and forks and scissors(?) up close
It's very nice to see, especially in a really commercial brand like Prada. Kind of like Björk almost--she's quite unusual but somehow manages to be really popular, famous, but her name hasn't become that sort of "cool/in style/high status" that Prada has (unless you're maybe in France or some other country there ^_^)

i will definately ask my sister to go visit so she can pick some stuff up.

its a shame not living in new york. everything fun always seems to happen there

So I'm confused. Is the event being held elsewhere or Caffeine did you go to the event in nyc? Maybe you mentioned this elsewhere and i was temporarily illiterate.

I don't think Prada is a commercial brand really at all. It's not avante garde but they use the nylon bags and perfume to act as their bread and butter (like most high end houses) but I think what Miuccia does on the runway is really far from commercial and catering to the masses.

Meg, I went to NYC for a business trip and stopped by the store in Soho

Do the book's proceeds go to charity? It's really bad, a regular shot and a detail shot for every skirt. It mimics the feel of the exhibition (minus the windshield wipers) but other than that...eh...

^I thought the book also contained the ideas/inspiration behind each skirt and the techniques used?? Someone said it earlier...

The photos you mentioned don't sound very good... The photos in post 28 would be better/helpful

The book contains the info that you see with each skirt at the exhibition, it gives a blurb of detail but these are all contained at the back of the book, almost like a glossary of sorts. It's very simple which is fine...

oh my god caffeine...
how can you say spring was disappointing?
i was falling over myself drooling over it...!!!
everything is so incredible up close...all the trompe l'oiel (how do you spell that??) and the beadwork and the fabric treatments, etc...
so much better than it looks in pictures....

frankly it interested me more than the skirt show...:ermm:

:innocent: alalalalal get out of my head..lalalallaa:lol:

My fiancee suprised me for my bday with a trip to NYC. We are going in two weeks.

I want to check this event out, but have a few questions.

1- Can someone provide me with the store address and a general location?
2- Is this certain hours or just while the store is open?
3- Do you think they will still have the tees/pins etc?

any information, advice, tips etc is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advice:flower:

575 Broadway in Soho 212-334-8888 open M-S 11-7 and Sunday from 12-6.

hopefully the pins and shirts won't be sold out by then!

^Pretty little building

Too bad... from the distance, I couldn't even see the parrots (or anything but paint smears) on that skirt. Was the parrot skirt in the buttons image too? It looks like it might be the third one in the first row.
And what is the red, black, and yellow skirt? It looks like the yellow parts are gloves.

gius-its actually a HUGE building. there is the whole first floor and then the bottom floor...esp being in NYC where everything is small inside its VERY large I think one of the largest Pradas in the USA

Thanks for the information. I greatly appreciate it. Gave you Karma!!:flower:

no problem! The Soho store in my opinion is really cool. Its like a museum withe fashion to buy. I love it. The other stores like on Madison and 5th are so stuffy.....this store is more modern times

^Cool!!

I'm all set to go now. Just have to have enough money saved to buy something.
