Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous styling, color-palette and setpiece.
The concept of the young and the beautiful making their faithful trek to a mythical Shangri-La through what is essentially a stunning postmodern, glass-and-metal lit by neon sculpture-structure passage is so brilliant in design, I can’t help but weep a little for its stunning design vision.
But gorgeous kids, expensive setpiece art and smart styling aside, there really is only three main looks worked over to mimic a full collection: The voluminous windbreaker trench, the leisure/Nehru jacket and the tuxedo— all in Prada-exclusive, gleaming techno nylon, no doubt. The rest is a tad on the drudging side to me.And if I want to be particularly picky, I can easily get all these looks from Patagonia to The North Face—mix it up with my old Miu MIu and Prada Sport pieces and likely come across more credible as a stylish mountaineering fanatic, than what Miuccia is offering here.
(BTW, I love how “diversity” only seems to mean racial diversity in casting nowadays— yet none of the models in general look to be a day past twenty… How about including models past the age of 25— and god forbid, in their 30s and even 40s?)
