Prada Menswear F/W 11.12 : Tobey Maguire by David Sims

This is SO RANDOM. This is like the most random thing every in the history of randomness, lol. Seriously it blew my mind when I first read the title.

But it doesn't look that bad in all honesty. Typical, brooding Prada.

Its quite boring. The collection wasn't overly exciting, so I was expecting some kind of over-exaggerated and dynamic idea to overcompensate. Its a bit of a let down to be honest. They should have chosen someone a bit more exciting / controversial to make things more interesting.

i mean his look is just as peculiar as the men who walk Prada shows... while it may be boring I don't see how he doesn't fit the look. Prada Men's ads also have a pervert feeling to them

totally agree with you..and I don't think that Prada's male models are ever that masculine to begin with, RE: who ever said Tobey was a "boy".

ETA: I can't believe there are 38 people viewing this thread..who are not members..that must be a record for Menswear ads, that often receive little to no attention. Didn't know Tobey was so popular..

i actually like this. he looks like a prada boy. tobey totally pulls this campaign off. it doesn't look so starstruck as a lot of luxe campaigns do like angelina, rhianna for gucci etc. it looks like a Prada advertisement not a Tobey advertisement.

I think this is very Prada. Is he the first celeb to appear in the mens ads? It looks great, at first I thought he was a new boy, loool
till I googled him and remembered he was the spider man actor

^joaquin phoenix and takeshi kaneshiro also did prada (iirc) also paul simonon's sons louis and claude

Tobey? A little random, no? Is he promoting anything atm?
Overall, it's just a tad bit stale. The collection was so edgy and I wish they'd evoke that here.

lol edgy...idts except the socks maybe

I mean, it's that it's bad. it's just I feel like the collection was so so good imo that the campaign doesn't do it justice. The clothes on the runway looked so quirky and fun but here it just looks really bland. It looks alot more like GQ/ Vogue Homme/ or Details editorial rather then a Prada campaign. They could have done so much more with this rather then have a celebrity being shot in a nice apartment in New York. I also would've rather have Nicholas or Clement or Ollie Greb the guy who closed the show then Tobey. :/ Hopefully the women's campaign doesn't dissapoint!

NO NO NO NO :judge:

At first glance I thought Toby was gonna pop up a superman or spiderman suit with that

Unexpected choice. A bit irrelevant but it still looks surprisingly good. I like it

Toby looks stiff bored and that is quite frankly very off putting. If there was come other expression on his face I actually wouldn't have minded him as the model for the campaign.

I was really hoping Alexander Beck would get the campaign. He fits the offbeat collection so perfectly and considering he was an exclusive for Prada, it only made sense. Or any of the other models, such as Thomas Engel Hart, Robin Ahrens and Harry Goodwins. They could have breathed some youth energy into the 50's/70's vibe collection.

This campaign couldn't be anymore lackluster. What's even worse is that, it makes the collection look that much more dated. It just doesn't capture the energy from the show. And Tobey looks possessed in the second shot.

such an odd and unexpected choice for prada, but, then again, she's known for making odd and unexpected choices so this sort of falls right in line. i still think she should have one campaign for men and women especially in a season like the one she had for fall/winter 2011.

I don't really care who is he, I do like it and in my opinion he fits Prada's aesthetics.

Surprising as it may be, I like it In fact, I like it very much.

Oh, and good to see David Sims for Prada, that's another interesting choice.

Well, thinking good and more calm now, Prada menswear never was something that blow my mind, but!, this is crap.
