Prince William and Catherine Middleton Expecting A Baby *Update* Gave Birth to a Boy

Here's something i have just realised- George, Alexander and Louis are the names of Princess Diana's siblings children (Williams cousins).

George McCorquodale (son of Lady Sarah McCorquodale),
The Hon. Alexander Fellowes (son of Lady Jane Fellowes)
Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp (Son of Charles Spencer)

So not only are they honouring the Royal side of the family they are also honouring the Spencer family as well.

I think Louis is one of William's middle names if I'm not mistaken.

I think the Spencer connection is merely a coincidence. Most aristocratic families stick to the same names.

George is obviously meant to evoke the spirit of the many King Georges and Prince Charles is rumoured to be inclined to taking that name on when he becomes king just as his grandfather did. Alexander is meant to honour the Queen as her middle name is Alexandra and Louis is a middle name that both Charles and William have. It's also probably meant to honour Louis Mountbatten.

It's quite refreshing to see such famous people sticking with a "normal" sounding name. Not that Kate and William had much choice, seeing as royalty always seems to use the same names and they would have gotten slammed by everyone if they hadn't. But still, George is a nice sounding name.

^ well yes but kate and william arent just "famous people", they are royals. i dont think its ok for royals to use "unique" names like most of the famous couples lol

^ yes but there also are plenty of weird 'royal' names in the history of UK.

I'm a believer in not giving kids cutesy names -- not that these two would've had much of a choice -- because ultimately kids grow up rather fast and it's better to go with something a bit more elegant and sophisticated.

I do think this is indeed the case where they actually "chose" the name like a normal couple.
The fact that a lot of people managed to guess the name is self explanatory. My hubby even won 5 quid at work for guessing it right, not that it was too difficult, if you apply a bit of logic.
I think George is not a nice name but i guess that was not the point.

Late congrats to the little prince. Catherine did a really good Job, as every mother.

my God! that must have been painful!! but I guess that used to be normal 40 years ago... and if she insisted

Maybe the labour wasn't that tough and she did not need any. Good for her and the baby.
