Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

I don't think he ever looked at home at Dior. Watching the documentary done on his first couture collection he looked not nervous, but sort of awkward - that he already knew it wasn't for him. He's far to progressive for Dior, however he produced some beautiful clothing. But Dior (especially with Toledano and Arnault) want a designer to parade around in public and generate hype and excitement to drive sales, and Raf was never going to be that designer.

Fingers crossed he doesn't work for another label. I'd be thrilled if he just focused on his own brand and launched womens wear.

It was more than obvious that he wasn't the right fit for the job and I'm glad he understood that as well. I hope he has more time to focus on his own label and create on the pace he prefers. The guessing game will be fun!

Will Ticsi be moved from Givenchy to Dior (just like Galliano) and LVMH takes Wang into Givenchy to play with PPR again ?

The news came as quite surprising to me, it took time for me to warm up to his designs. Even though I never feel in loved his work during his time at Dior, it looked as if he was doing the job he was meant to do. The sales, cosmetics, contracts with starlets. Dior was visible.

Thanks! For those of you in shock over his departure just wait till you find out where he's going!!!!

He's leaving for another brand/house? This fashion shuffle is making me dizzy.

Somethings tells me that someone else is going to be leaving soon as well.... :innocent:

I'm not surprised in the slightest. I feel like his Dior got a lot of unnecessary flack, but there was definetely something lacking. He's a very intelligent designer, and it's a pity he wasn't able to show that intellectuality in his tenure at Dior. (I think he was told to be more commercial and less brainy, which might explain the overall clinicalness of a lot of his collections.) Anyway, I wish him the best at his future endeavors, and I can't wait to see who will succeed him at the position.

I think he would go to Celine if Phoebe departure rumors were true. And please no Tisci at Dior!!

Totally expected, love Raf but he just didn't find his voice at Dior. ^Mutterlein such a tease! Céline sounds like a good fit, he's been meeting with Phoebe quite a bit over the past year, I'm hoping he does actually put more focus on his own brand too though.

I'm dumbfounded!

Some of his collection could be a bit calm and with almost no energy but he solidified such a strong and consistent visual identity to Dior, in every aspect of the brand, I'm upset that it will go to trash or be ignored by the next designer....

More like he was let go and someone took the opportunity to snap him up. But who that is you will never guess!
