Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

I think right now the only ones who would accept the Dior position would be some young oblivious designer with stars in their eyes, because all the seasoned designers know how tortuous it is working there.
Well at least with Saunders, Jennifer and Co won't look terrible in those bizarre monstrosities Raf used to inexplicably crank out

Saunders… Jennifer… Jennifer…. Saunders…. Jennifer Saunders at Dior LOL

I do foresee Alber starting his own label soon. I’ve always thought that was the natural progression for him. And at this point, I can also see his career to be shaping up very much like Alaia’s. A very exciting time for Alber.

Even towards the end of Galliano’s reign at Dior, his designs, shows were becoming more and more OTT-Vegas trope. Tim Blanks had put it perfectly when he mused that Galliano’s Dior was becoming someone who had indulged in rich desserts for too long and suffering indigestion. Tim’s words are as flutteringly amusing as they are sharply right on the mark.

So the House, the label the brand was becoming moldy and unsavoury even back then to me. Bill was wallpaper and musak and the epitome of filler, and Raf was just unbearably cold and stillborn. I’m very glad Alber and Olivier are not attached to this bloated, overdressed brand at this point.

D la Repubblica (Simone Marchetti) says that there is a rumor about Massimo Giornetti going to dior and that the battle is between him and Sarah Burton.

^ Oh God. Like his directionless collections at Ferragamo weren't enough. But then, since he left Ferragamo today, does that mean he was promised the Dior job?

Massimo makes much more sense than Jonathan, in my opinion.

Massimiliano* lol I always get him and Massimo Giorgetti mixed up

The Daily seems to be pushing for Marc Jacobs! Please, no!! Bad idea. He's doing great at his own brand, both from a financial and artistic perspective. And I think that's surely due to his undivided attention. Well, when he's not sexting and seeking out randoms on Instagram, that is.

Confidential to Bernard Arnault: Why Not Install Marc Jacobs at Dior?
By Ashley Baker | March 24, 2016

Another week, another round of frenzied speculation surrounding the still-vacant artistic director seat at Dior. So is it Jonathan Saunders? Well, the great Scot did leave his eponymous label in December for “personal reasons,” so he likely has time to take on a big project, but this particular choice is intriguing to the fashion community, if only because Saunders doesn’t have the market-tested accessory experience that LVMH chief Bernard Arnault is surely looking for. (But maybe Arnault has seen something we haven’t?) Talks with Sarah Burton, who was allegedly fingered for the Dior job in January, are said to have fizzled, and given her wildly successful collections for McQueen, a move from London is not exactly imminent.
Here’s an idea: why not Marc Jacobs? He left LVMH’s crown jewel, Louis Vuitton, in 2013 after a spectacular tenure in order to prepare for his own brand’s IPO, but given the shuttering of Marc by Marc Jacobs, the newly-streamlined business may provide Jacobs with a bit of room in his schedule to flex his creative muscles in a new way. Imagine what the man who gave us the Murakami bags could do with the Lady Dior? The Dior job might appeal to him based on its iconic ready-to-wear heritage—when he arrived at Vuitton in 1997, it was only an accessories brand. Bonus points: Jacobs is a very well-known quantity to LVMH, and undisputedly one of the industry’s brightest stars. A Daily can dream!

They don't have enough money to pay Marc, that's why Dior won't choose him.

Well he was at LV for 16 years so if they can reel him in for the long run I'm sure they wouldn't mind paying him something they can both agree on. At least they would know he wouldn't just walk off after 3 years.

Even if it's not a bad idea (Marc did really fantastic clothes at Vuitton. People always talks about the bags but the clothes were also great), Marc should stay where he is.
Like Karl, he is good at doing things with respect and irreverence and people loved him in Paris but it's just not good for his own brand.

He has the opportunity to make his brand bigger and better. His spring 2016 is everywhere...
I believe they will announce it soon, maybe right after the resort collection.

^^Well, that was the reason why they didn't hire him the first time, no? At least that was what the press said. He asked for 10 million dollars, no?

I really couldn't care less about Marc at this point. He belongs to another era.

It's time to make the choice and to hire somebody,Marc Jacobs is fit for Dior but it could damage his own brand.

Marc does not fit into Dior in my opinion, he is more a Chanel-Type of Designer and as you already said, it wouldn't be a smart move concerning his own label.

They don't have enough money to pay Marc, that's why Dior won't choose him.

LVMH can't afford Marc Jacobs? They have money enough for three of him, they won't choose him because they don't want to.

This is for sure. They have money to buy his brand and him too. If LVMH doesn't has money so who has...
This story about hiring Marc Jacobs seems to be only the rumors, till now no Breaking news, not about Saunders and not about Jacobs.

Also, isn't LVMH already a shareholder in Marc's own brand ? The reason he left Vuitton was that he could develop his own brand into a bigger powerhouse before an IPO. I doubt Arnault would put MJ at Dior when they're trying to establish his own brand as one of the biggest fashion houses in America.

Like everybody said , Marc Jacobs is doing wonders with his own label now that he can solely focus on it. I doubt he'd want to change his priorities and go back to Paris.

I have to say that building expectations by waiting to announce Raf's replacement was a good idea at first. Now it's become ridiculous and it's starting to look like it's not LVMH that's being picky but the designers themselves who don't want to go there. Which is not good advertising for Dior. The house needs a strong figure to represent it and inspire , the more they wait the more people will loose interest with the crown jewel of LVMH. Such a shame.

Was that the reason, or was that the excuse?

Sure, you're right. Sales for LV were dipping, and LVMH could have very well made the final decision to get new blood and not renew Marc's contract for the house.

That being said, look at Marc's brand since his LV departure. He and are LVMH are really, really devoted to making his namesake label into a powerhouse.
