Ralph Lauren S/S 10 New York

I'm loving this collection. it's modest and speaks of the times. VIVA RALPH LAUREN !!

This is awful... Those floral dresses are so............... nineties....... but really cheapo looking.

Why are the photos so bright..?

Yup- similar things can be found at your local Mall...And I know- many of the pictures are totally overexposed! Never seen that before..

Who photographed this?? The exposure is horrible.. I can't even see any of the white dresses, just a vague white shape.

I'm excited about a few looks.

i'm dissapointed. it just feels very bland to me, like i've seen it all before.

and, i'm very sick of the jeans.

Who is this model?

^ It's Gracie Carvalho, but you really should post that in the model i-d thread :)

I agree, it's pretty awful photography. Everything is much too bright!

i tend to prefer when ralph lauren gives us his version of down in the weeds fashion and this fits that bill. while i enjoy his contrived world of american luxury as much as i enjoy michael kors' version, this collection feels more authentic and true to who ralph lauren actually is. also, i thought it quite crafty of him to give us those denim looks to open and then cut similar ensembles in that blue color in a non-denim fabric.

the denim?I 'm not sure whether it is a good idea...expecially for Ralph Lauren

ewwww, what's with the demin? BORING and weird.

but the second dress in post #35 is so beautiful!

I like the coolness in this collection. It´s a bit different to what i know RL stands for, normally it´s kind of classy, elegant and a bit boring but this time i think he did it very well. It´s youthful, wearable, fresh and cool.

I agree it's not Ralph's best indeed, probably no one is going to make me like denim in fashion. Though I really like the normal pieces, dresses in the end are beautiful as always.

BAD BAD BAD!
This doesn't look Ralph Lauren to me,the denim looks are kinda cheap and they are too "Dsquared" for my tastes
I don't feel the luxurious vibe coming from the clothes

The video is supposed to be up on the RL Website today...sounds very quick to me- it is usually at least a week, but let's hope...B)

from Style.com:
Hard times. The Great Recession we're all living through got Ralph Lauren thinking about American resiliency. "I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies," he wrote in his program notes. So in place of the polo fields or any of his other tony stomping grounds, Lauren took us back to the dust bowl for Spring. Models in newsboy caps wore faded and torn oversize jeans with blue work shirts, patchwork overalls, and nightshirts in mattress-ticking stripes, or sweet calico-print dresses with white ankle socks and oxfords with heels.

It was cinematic, like most of Lauren's collections. And it goes without saying that his vision is a romanticized one: Henry Fonda's character in The Grapes of Wrath didn't carry a lizard-skin bag. In fact, the show played like a rags-to-riches tale, a story line dear to the designer's heart. After a few white cotton organdy dresses and some thirties-esque suits—think pinstriped three-pieces with cropped and gathered pants or a boxy d.b. with fuller trousers—the work jackets and carpenter pants reappeared in blue ombré silk charmeuse, the nightshirts came striped with beads, and the overalls were transformed into a floor-grazing lamé dress. A pair of evening jeans, completely covered in silvery beads save for their fraying holes, took the concept to the limit.

When Lauren came out for his bow, it was to the tune of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." He'll see the other side of this recession—no one works harder than he does; he's the great American brand.

I think the shoes are really amazing, rest just plain ok
