i'm currently reading 'the fake factor' by sarah mccartney which mostly focuses on why people buy fake purses, as well as mentioning other fake items that are regularly sold as well. it's pretty interesting.

I just read Hadley Freeman's The Meaning of Sunglasses. It was quite amusing although her love for Kate Moss got rather tiring.

Do you know where to buy affordable fashion books or magazine? Despite the highly pricable fashion books from Barney and Noble! Or do they have www where they trade or sell it basically e-bay or amazon.

Any recommendations foor good fashion tip books?

I was watching Rachel Zoe on Bravo, and was wondering if anyone here recommends a good fashion tip book..I know it's not editorial but it's close! If this is not the right section to post my question..moderators please delete it then.

a good book I would suggest is Deluxe by Dana Thomas.
It is about the big companies like LVMH and such, how they started and have keeping up.
It shows the reality of how fashion business works today, how decisons are taken and why, and who makes them.
a book about money, not about creativity

Print In Fashion by Marnie Fogg - such a fab book! It's full of bright, beautiful prints and has a few good quotes and loads of information on designers like Matthew Williamson and Basso & Brooke.

Excess: Fashion and Underground in the 80s is a really cool book with lots of great images (mostly from period magazines & ads) of the main fashion trends of the 80s (power dressing, new wave, japanese avant garde, punk, street fashion, etc) and also essays about and pictures of related trends in areas other than fashion.

Breaking the Mode features gorgeous avant-garde clothes from LACMA's collection

Belgian Fashion Design features dozens of Belgian designers from well-known like margiela, demeulemeester, bikkembergs, etc. to much more obscure. there was a copy at the strand when i went in this weekend. it is worth buying if you are inerested in avant-garde fashion.

if you can find them, old copies of european fashion mags (donna, vanity, vogue italia, etc.) are fun to look at. my favorite publications are back issues of book moda, gap collections (not related to the gap clothing chain!), fashion preview, and other periodicals like these (they are full of hundreds of runway photos for each season).
