Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons for H&M Designer Collection

Could someone tell me the difference between the drop crotch shorts here? They both say wool shorts & are listed the same price...

Also here if you scroll to the clothes not on the models they show two different drop crotch shorts... or is one the back view?

They are the same, CDGs classic old boilled wool technic...which i think this kind of clothes will look terrible in this collaboration unfortunately!

In the other link I sent though one had seems in the front or was that just the back side?

I have to say I am not interested about this at all... or, to be more specific, I was interested when I first heard of it, but when I saw the actual pieces... it is just basic H&M in more expensive prices. I just have a feeling that if this was for example... Matthew Williamson for H&M people wouldn't be this excited here. Kawakubo might be a great, legendary designer but this to me seem just to be a PR campaign, a way to get more moolah for Rei.

Do you really see no difference to basic h&m clothing?

There are many basic things, yes. But a good collection may have basics and more outstanding pieces that it can work.

The designs are many signature designs from Cdg. You could find the same designs in their cdg shirt line or CdgCdg line.

No, I don't see much difference. And if that is what CdG mainline (which is expensive) is really like, I would leave it on the rack... do tell me the quality at least is different?!

i liked it a lot , the first one is lovely, altought everything's quite to simple

Maybe its similar to H&M trend things but we have no trend at our store.

I'm not in love with the collection, to be honest. I kind of feel like it's nothing too special and not really worth getting to H&M an hour early and fighting over.

I hope everyone feels that way... maybe theres hope to get those shorts on Ebay at a good price... probably not much hope but hope lol.

in my opinion its best to not get your heart set on any piece of H&M's designer collaborations (unless you are wealthy and have the $ to pay twice as much on ebay) even if the line is being carried in your local H&M store. because chances are you probably wont be able to get it.

you also might be able to wait 6 months for the item, as sometimes H&M's ships its items that didnt sell from the european stores to the american ones.

for instance 6 months after the stella mccartney collaboration, quite a lot of the chain mail purses showed in my boston H&M store with the european tags on it and prices in euros.

I always had an easy time, but my city has like 20 H&M stores, most of which carry the collections so it's spread out more. I scored a bunch of the Cavalli stuff last year. You just gotta get there at like 9 am, wait for it to open and then grab everything in your size that you can (especially if you wear a 34 or 36)

Usually it's possible to get everything at the H&M stores in Helsinki if you arrive in time.

I can't see people fighting over this collection....other than the trenchcoat there's is nothing really wearable in this collection!

^ although i can see a lot of folks in san francisco fighting over this collection, given the number of asians in the bay area.

one thing is that you can call Gareth Pugh's collection not wearable, but this? Okey, you do need some guts but I'd say pretty much everything here is wearable, at least if you take single pieces and mix it with more casual garments, not styled with head-to-toe H&M+CdG

I love the coats, jackets and tops but those lousy crotch shorts are really scary.. Looks like there's something hanging low..

Having gained awareness about this collection just recently in the October GQ issue, I can't say I'm very phased. This must be the final nail in the coffin for designer collaborations with high street shops. It just doesn't embody the excitement and the hype that surrounded K.Largerfeld and V&R's collaboration with HM.

Nonetheless I'll check it out and have already decided to buy the blue shirt with white dots. It looks great and the price is very decent at £29.

^^ I agree, this whole designer/high street collaboration age will soon be over.
