Robert Pattinson

News on Rob's next project :woot:

EXCLUSIVE: Robert Pattinson has booked his first major lead for when he completes The Twilight Saga. Pattinson will star in Cosmopolis, the Don DeLillo novel adaptation that David Cronenberg wrote and will direct. Pattinson, who just starred with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz in the Francis Lawrence-directed Fox 2000 film Water For Elephants, will play Eric Packer, a financial wunderkind who risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day. His deed puts him in the crosshairs for assassination. The drama is a study of capitalism in a slightly futuristic metropolis.

As Pattinson and his Twilight Saga castmates plan their careers after the series is completed--Bill Condon is directing the final film right now, Pattinson is following a path based on strong filmmakers. He took the role because he is a big fan of Cronenberg's work. He's repped by WME and 3 Arts.

He's working with Cronenberg! Sounds very interesting and apparently Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti are attached to it. I really hope this is true.

Great news! I hope it has some delicate violence like Eastern Promises or A History of Violence :)

OMG!
boy's obviously showing something nice and serious in those auditions, no? he's getting job after job.
good for him, really good for him. he actually might stand a chance after all the twi-crap is finished, no?
Cronenberg is a big, big, big deal.

He doesn't audition anymore - that's why no one knows for sure if it will work.

^are you sure? I doubt that someone like Cronenberg would hire him without an audition when he only has Twilight movies and RM to show, you know?

pretty sure he auditions. RM role was basically written for him (as he co-written the screenplay) and WFE was given to him (after Cannes 2009 and all the business making there), both were given before it was proven he can do well boxoffice wise which he failed to show when it comes to US market. no big director would've given out the lead role just like that, he/she doesn't need it - it's a too much risk and he/she can get anyone he/she wants, and Rob nowadays comes in package which isn't the most flattering one for big studios and important directors who want to be taken seriously. so yeah, i think he auditions. ;)

I believe for certain directors you have to audition for the role. Only certain actors don't have to audition anymore, like the really BIG ones like Brad and Johnny.

He said that he doesn't have to audition anymore in a radio interview and that it is really scary to him. I doubt cronenberg would make him audition - he wants the project green lit and Rob can do that.

Cronenberg can get his projects green lit without Rob. I remember that interview with Rob and it was done quite awhile ago, things change. For certain directors you have to audition.

^ I think what he meant by that is like Tom, Brad or George they don't have to as just their name will bring in dollars.

BUT directors like David aren't like that. He would of had to audition for sure.

He won't know what Twilight is. He probably went "who" when Rob's name was brought up.

he did say that, but that was before RM came out and flanked brilliantly and i really don't think it applies for big directors (it wouldn't be a first he was overexaggeratting, he's no Pitt or Clooney). he even auditioned for some stuff to Berg last summer...tho the whole project is still very much hush-hush.

Rob can get a project off the ground when it comes to smaller indie pieces, nowadays much harder than ever (UC being the latest example) since he obv still relies greatly on twilight public which didn't show up for the RM. even Kristen has issues with this green-lighting nowadays and she's far more known in the indie festival clique (and among actors/producers) than Rob.

I hope he auditions, Lawrence and Cronenberg must have seen something good in him to give him the roles so it gives me hope for the future lol

Daj: wasn´t it for the remake of Dune?

he's only been in this business for so long, it'd be kinda weird if he didn't have to audition IMO :/

no, Berg never confirmed it and people instantly assumed it was for that, from what i've read here and there it's something else (hence Rob being tight with him nowadays), something new.

oh and i have to correct myself, i'm messing up the dates - it was summer 2009 i think we he went to Berg's house, not 2010. right?

I spotted Rob, he´s wearing a black shirt/tshirt and a light mustard jacket that I hate already (why does he wear that color is beyond me...) seems clean shaven and with wet hair (?). It was brief, I might have gotten a lot wrong lol

^ i was just about to say that haha
Ugly yellowish sweater/jacket

at least there was a glimpse though haha

Kristen won an award and they showed Rob... the hair looks wet and ugly lol
