The stars of the Roberto Cavalli spring-summer 2012 ad campaign are four undisputably famous supermodels – a full house of outstanding models.

Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Kristen McMenamy and Daphne Groeneveld were shot by Steven Meisel in the Pier 59 studios in New York: the printed silk dresses and creations with gold details stand out against the monochrome background, accentuating the modern beauty of four sophisticated and feminine women.

The creative direction for the campaign was by Eva Cavalli while Guido Palau and Pat McGrath took care of the hair and make-up. Naomi Campbell, who’s also starring in the ad for the new Cavalli Florence bag and in the underwear campaign, grabs the attention with her magnetic, radiant and sensual gaze.

Wow :buzz: This looks like a vintage Versace ad, I love the casting but why the hell did they include Daphne?

DANG, that's a major moment for Daphne. I do think she's kinda trying too hard there.

The campaign is surprisingly boring and unappealing, despite all those names. Think the grey background is the problem.

I kinda like it, a bit too simple though
I really love Daphne, but she doesn't fit in the cast at all...Strange choice...

One more shot.

A big no. Too much studio, seems a catalogue, why? I don't like this, some shots are great. Why Daphne is here? I was hoping for Natalia Vodianova :(
I'm happy about Naomi and Karen

Oh wow, this is Versace-tastic!

lol

i love Naomi's sideways glancing smirk

and something about that flying hair just speaks to me

i like

 I remember some article floating around on the internet saying that Donatella didn't like how Cavalli copied Versace all the time!! All he is doing is proving her right, tbh. With that being said, I think this still looks pretty good. I like Daphne & I'm happy for her, but(dare I say it :ninja:) I think Joan would have been perfect for this.

OMG I love this!
And are we still trying to make Daphne happen? I have to admit she does look great. This is so 80s Versace.

Versace F/W 1994 says hi.

Naomi and Kristen look like they were shot separately from Karen and Daphne....and then just shoved together.

it is indeed strange that they cast daphne with the other three ladies. although i must say that i think daphne looks her best here and she stands out in that dull grey background. that first one is definitely my favourite!

Well, it looks good but it's so not Cavalli. They could've done something different with the collection, it looked much better on the runway
The cast is great, though.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the thread's title was that Daphne was going to be totally overshadowed by the other girls, but, to my surprise, she is not overshadowed at all, she look like a great supermodel herself among the other, it's amazing, I love this ad!

All i can say is.... WOW! absolutely stunning.

And i agree with the member who citied that it looks awfully alot like Versace... first thing i thought of too, I do love it though, terribly simply and amazing at the same time! such a great cast, the group shots look phenomenal!

I was however disappointed with the thread title at first when i read '...by Steven Meisel' i was ready to fall asleep, but he's actually surprised me!

The eyewear shots are stunning too!.
