The brand’s winter 2025 collection is to be its last.

PARIS — Rochas fashion is being discontinued, as its owner Interparfums SA is refocusing on its core business — prestige fragrances and cosmetics.

Interparfums has owned the fashion brand for the past decade.

“These years have been an intense and inspiring journey,” Alessandro Vigilante, creative director of Rochas, said in a statement released Wednesday. “I’m proud that together we have created a vision able to reach a global audience without losing authenticity or heart.
“Each collection carried a part of me, telling stories and inspiring others,” he continued.

“My commitment to fashion remains unchanged: to connect with women, anticipate their desires and accompany them with clothes that embrace, protect and express identity.”

“We are proud of the legacy we leave behind,” stated Philippe Bénacin, chief executive officer of Interparfums SA. “I would like to thank everyone who supported us throughout the years, and especially Alessandro Vigilante, who, over the past two years as creative director, has beautifully expressed the DNA of this century-old house — an emblem of bold femininity and elegance.”

The winter 2025, which was presented in March, is to be Rochas’ final fashion collection.

The house of Rochas was founded in 1925.

No vision for the relaunch of the fashion operation as well as they didn’t have a vision for the perfumes.
Good decision.
Alessandro Dell Aqua tried to do something years ago but Benacin wasn’t made to run a fashion business.

Marco Zanini’s tenure was the best in terms of vision, strong interpretations of house codes, and interesting designs.

Of course we’re not going to discount the legendary Olivier Theysken and the beautiful couture-like collections he offered. But it had so much rack appeal under Marco and nothing came close after his departure.

Rochas under Olivier and Zanini was under Procter and Gamble.

Dell Aqua made the transition between the two ownerships.

I wonder why they (P&G)relaunched the fashion in the first place. But at least, they had better advisors even if they also lacked vision.

No, the entire reason for Procter & Gamble to discontinue the fashion operation of Rochas was that they had bought it as part of a larger package of cosmetics brands. They had no expertise in fashion so it would not have made sense to replace Theyskens with Zanini. Zanini was hired by Gibo S.p.A. (the manufacturing arm of Onward Kashiyama, who purchased the Rochas fashion rights from P & G).

In hindsight we can probably consider the Theyskens years also from the business side a decent success, given the fact that he put the brand on the map from complete obscurity, with all the right wholesale accounts at the time and very good reception from the press as well as the right celebrities wearing the clothes on the red carpet (even when Theyskens had long left Rochas). All that in a period of 3,5 years is a pretty remarkable thing, even by today‘s standard.
