woow! the little sockies with the leather sandals are bringing huuuuge flash backs to when i was 8 yrs old.

and now i want to be 8 yrs old again!

i LOVE this.
i agree that it looks italian though.
but it is probably my favorite ive seen so far.
i cant wait for the full show to be up.

Im not very excited about this...
I mean do we really need this type of collection?
it doesnt add anything new to the season

Some of the pieces are interesting though. I say yes for this collection.

Yeah we do need collections which have emotion in them and are not ripped off balmain ,so yes this is a relevant collection .

It would be a complete and utter waste of time to post the collection from style.com. It's mundane and it offers nothing new or modern. It looks like an amalgamation of simple 'cute' pieces from Marni, Hermes and others.

What Theyskens did at Rochas was an art form. He took couture influences from Marcel and he made them modern. He created a sense of modernity at Rochas.

Zanini has proven nothing with this collection other than he is good at stealing other peoples looks and disguising them as his own by adding 'acid yellow' and a 'kimono floral pattern'. And seriously, those skinny belts and shoes+socks combination at a venerable house like Rochas? I never thought I'd see the day!! :innocent:

On the same token , Zaninni's designs for Halston sold like hot cakes.Yes Theyskens is gifted but his clothing line had no balance , the fact he nearly bankrupted 2 fashion labels says it all.

It's nice, it's not anything special (very Dries, but not as exciting), which is frustrating.

My whole problem is, why even bother continuing Rochas? No matter what Zanini does at Rochas, he will be compared to Olivier. Theyskens is like a looming, overwhelming specter haunting the house...it's all anyone can think about, and I just don't see how that can be good for reviews, brand image, or business.:ermm:

It isn't my style, but I can appreciate how it *will* sell, especially to the Dries van Noten/Kenzo/Marni crowd. The tailoring isn't too shabby either, and I wouldn't mind some pieces from here as affordable classics. Seriously, this hits the sweet spot in terms of the recessionary climate and the new sobriety. The over indulgence in excesses in fashion irritates me now, particularly the over decorated and embellished clothes. Those look very dated to me. Of course this isn't "avant-garde", but neither is Theyskens for a long time. I waded through my wardrobe recently and found a grey wool Nina Ricci zipped jacket from Theyskens first collection - *that* was fantastic, cut like a volumetric Rick Owens meets Rochas, and still right for today - but I remembered Theyskens was panned by the critics for it and he showed collections of impossible to wear "flou" afterwards.

i have to agree. it's a nice departure for the house, but it's been done to death.

If this collection didn't have the Rochas name to it, I'd say that the collection is decent. But yeah, it feels like a downgrade.
