Roisin Murphy Of Moloko

i don't really like the way this paragraph is conveyed at all-
Compared to the tearaway vigour of Róisín in action, those other fashion-fixated pop queens – Björk, Alison Goldfrapp, Kylie and even Madonna – look like mere prancing show ponies.

for one alison is not fashion obsessed like roisin...she likes designers but she's not some victimy slave. and pop queen???? to compare roisin, alison and bjork with kylie and madonna...well,i resent that with passion. makes them sound like some pussycat dolls/girls aloud crap. and to downplay bjork's influence is just appalling to me. bjork is still top notch, imo.

apart from that, good i'view! loved what she said about drugs and amy winehous and being in complete control of her own work and life. it's so true....i certainly don't find that world very romantic either.

and i wonder this pop star too? it must be kylie yeah? she's often very introspective about who she is....and she does enjoy the indies....remember nick cave? she hanging out with VV from the kills??

Scott the press will always makes comparisons with female artists:angry: but for me she stands alone.B)

^its sooo annoying. how do these people become journalists? don't they realise how lazy and superficial that comes off. you're doing a feature on a person who neither looks nor sounds like anyone else yet they love to lump the all together as if they're all alike. its like they comparing pj harvey to patti smith all the time...and goldfrapp to portishead when they released FM. i can understand why artists have such a hard time with them.

i agree wholeheartedly though. all three of those women do.

btw,i didn't mean roisin was fashion obsessed or some kind of a victim but that she just has a keener interest in fashion and uses fashion in a more dynamic way. alison has always stated she detests fashion as an ideal, basically.

At one point, Alison Goldfrapp approached the high-concept, high-stylized terrain of Roisin, but with Seventh Tree, she really scaled it back. And it Roisin, if possible, stepped it up even more! She's magnificent. I like to see artists convey their status through a calculated & authoritative visual identity.

^well i think alison was fed up with the image taking over the work and although it's still a part of their world,it's balanced itself back out again as with BC and FM. the thing i find different compared with so many,is that there is an off-kilterish charm to these women....a sort of effortlessness. no matter what they gravitate towards to express their vision. even with roisin there's something rather individual and impeccably independent about what she chooses and how she interprets it. even if it is a designer garment. that's really the primary connection they share.

what i was saying though is that alison has never been the kind of artist who has all of these designer connections because she's just fanatical about it. she's always kind of done her own thing without that. there's nothing wrong of course with being interested but one can certainly appreciate and respect her kind of self-reliance.

Roisin attended his beloved designer Hussein Chalayan's "From Fashion and Back" exhibition at the Design Museum in London last week. The exhibition is the first comprehensive presentation of his work in the UK, spanning 15 years of experimental projects, exploring his creative approach, inspirations, and the themes of cultural identity, displacement and migration which influence his work.

Dressed in his friend's creation ( her coat!) she said press: "I loved the exhibition. I like the furniture and the dress that lights up, but the best thing is the painting models... This is like revisiting my past happy memories-half of the outfits here I've worn on my back! It's wonderful to see how he's progressed and it feels right that he's receiving this acknowledgment."

i love it all! the collar

the gloves just add that little something. shes just so fabulous, as always.

^agreed.

she looks amazing. pulls off chalayan and still adds her own spin. i tell you if more actors and entertainers took a cue from roisin and would dress in that spirit rather than walking adverts, perhaps they would interest me more.

So Roisin is going to take the catwalk for Alexandre Vauthier this couture week right? If so, can't wait to see new pics.

She seems to be an unofficial face of Christophe Coppen

Love her style. Here are some accessories and outfits by Christophe Coppen she wore lately for her peformances:
