S/S 2007 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

I'm guessing Hilary as well, but I'm thinking is that really a shock? Karl loves shooting her for his eds and she has done Chanel runway every season she has walked, she even opened the resort show in NY. Also I don't think she WAS on the verge of supermodel status.. she IS on the verge.. so I'm not sure if she fits the clues that well.

Hmm.

^Hilary didn't walk in the first 20 in the SS07 Chanel show, though (The campaign girl did) ^_^ And I agree with you -- since Karl has shot her a few times recently, she probably wouldn't be a "surprise" choice, either.

I don't think that it will be Hilary, but I love her! She's the glamazon type of model, like the original supers.

But-- Freja isn't that surprising either. It's probably someone we can't guess!

Yes - the only girl factor is huge! I still remember her only girl ads for Balenciaga and Jil Sander...

ETA: style_expert and I were of one mind there!

The balenciaga one wasn't only girl, there were also a couple of pictures with Racquel Zimmerman.

It's either of these according to Lee:

Solange, Elise, Bette, Lily D, Anja, Snejana, Behati, Marina Perez, Amanda, Iekeline, Hilary Rhoda, Agyness, Bruna T, Freja.

He says that "someone's mentioned her", and these are the ones mentioned before he said that. He said someone on the verge of breaking through to supermodeldom...well, of these I would guess Anja, Snejana, Freja, Hilary, Iekeliene or possibly Agyness, but it would be cool with Amanda ;)

Actually, sleuthing, you can see that somewhere between November 9, 2006 at 08:55:23 PM and November 10, 2006 at 10:23:46 PM
Lee changed his mind, from that the model had noy been mentioned to that she had been mentioned. So the new Chanel model according to Lee was mentioned inbetween there. Let's see now ;)

That narrows it down to:

Behati
Amanda Moore
Marina Perez
Iekeliene
Freja
Solange
Bruna

Among these, Iekeline, Bruna and Behati should be considered new I guess. That leaves Marina, Solange, Freja and Amanda.

EDIT: Just now, he's mentioned that this model is among the first 20 at the Chanel show and is listed at models.com.

That leaves: Freja.

Hmm, maybe I did something wrong here, I don't know, but it seems a pretty good choice to me ;)
I think we need to remember, Lee said.. "was on the verge of supermodeldem".....not "is on the verge"...so it cant be someone who is still climbing their way up, more or less someone who was hyped up to do so but never made it...

"[FONT=verdana, helvetica, arial][SIZE=-1]It is a big A-list girl who was on the verge of breaking through to supermodeldom. This will be her ticket."
also mentioned models.com top 50 and first 20 in Chanel show...

Freja Beha
-Wasn't hyped up largely to be a supermodel, and I dont feel she has been around long enough to have missed her chance
Gemma Ward-Was she ever on the verge before?
Raquel Zimmerman-confirmed not to be?
Anja Rubik-I dont think she is considered A-list enough
Caroline Trentini-I could see this, shes up there, but never "broke through"
Lily Donaldson-Another possibility for the same reasons as Trentini, been in Chanel Couture ad before though...
Coco Rocha-Can't be, hasnt passed any chance for supermodeldem yet
Natasha Poly-Can't see it

Well, my bets are Trentini or Beha...
preferably Trentini for me ;)

edit> now noticing that the Caroline Trentini hadn't been mentioned, it must be Freja

Anja is A-list. Esté Lauder says she is ;) The only thing that would indicate she's not A-list is her absence from American Vogue and her not being a Meisel favourite...but then neither is Kate Moss.

Chanel on top of a long term Lauder contract would make Anja a supermodel. More so than Freja, who on the other hand is an overall editorial favourite (although has she done anything in American Vogue yet...?) and a runway queen for two consequtive seasons.

EDIT: Going back to Lee's posts again, it really is after the time that he said "the girl has been mentioned" that someone mentioned Anja. According to what I can see....it's only Freja who fits all the criteria, but it's easy to get it wrong.

That's true, the Estee Lauder contract and Chanel campaign will really set her through. If Freja landed this campaign, it would really only make hr cemented as an A-lister, not a supermodel. Having a huge cosmetics contract and Chanel campaign at the same time has only been done by Daria recently, who is considered, vaguely to be a supermodel.

Freja is the obvious, and this one seems to be a shocker.......The obvious is never the choice, most of the time.

I think we can stop guessing. If we precisely follow Lee's posts, it can only be Freja. Well and if he's wrong, the guessing can be endless. Let's now just wait until an official source confirms it, or not.

One last thing I want to say about Chanel:
the first 4 girls to walk at Chanel SS07 were Daria, Freja, Gemma, Angela...
we all know that 3 of them are Kaiser Karla's darlings/muses...so what's Freja doing there ;)

I'm not sure if this belongs here but anyway:

CALVIN KLEIN's reputation for sexy ads was launched by the unforgettable appearance of a teenage Brooke Shields telling television audiences that "nothing comes between me and my Calvins", and now the label is making a small screen comeback. From November 20, a new television campaign will see models Doutzen Kroes and Gabriel Aubry putting the more affordable Klein White label into the limelight on an ad that will air during shows including Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. "We will spend £220 million this year globally on marketing and advertising," said Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer of Calvin Klein Inc, who declined to elaborate on the cost of this campaign. "I would say that this is a significant spend for us." (November 13 2006, AM)

Thanks, that's really interesting. :flower: Isn't Doutzen the perfect Calvin Klein girl? ;)

That is interesting! Can't say I'm a fan of Doutzen (she doesn't have much for expression), but I'm still curious to see what the commercials will be like. And hey, we've only got to wait a week.

Quoting Avril Lavigne, I'm with you. I hope it's her too! Although it is a bit far out there.

I'm sure she will keep doing Rimmel, CK and . . . . lalalalala...what more...there is always campaign for Kate Moss:D well at least she is prefessional;-))) hahahaha....majority of campaigns are bluh:sick: I think advertising in fashion has died out...well at least when i see Kate I start looking at poster...I found myself staring at Claudia Schiffer in Accesorize ;-))) So ... if they don't put something worthy to look at i will just pass away...as if i want to look posh in Prada i don't really care about Sasha. What ads are lacking now is SEX, IDEA and ATTRACTIVNESS...Novelty? Fashion is not about novelty anymore...Does my post made any sense? No? Okay at least u could understand Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and Prada...who is Sasha?;-)))))

Cheers...

P.S. AND MOVE THESE CELEBRITIES AWAY FROM FASHION...TAKE THEM BACK TO CINEMATOGRAPHY...BRING SUPERMODELS BACK AS IT SMELLS BORING HERE;-)

P.S.S. MADONNA - I LOVE UUUUUUUUUUUU

I agree with that advertising and fashion photography in general has become a lot more uninteresting. What I do not agree is your statement about Moss & co; they are all just celebrities. They did start as models, but they are more celebrities these days. So, if celebs should not get campaigns, neither should they. Those supermodels aren't even professional models anymore, at least if you look at Kate...

Sasha is relatively new, at least in this point. Supers should go away, they are not models.

Good for Doutzen. I haven't liked her campaigns for CK before, but I'm eager to see what will happen. This guessing for the new Chanel girl is getting too exciting...I want to know who's the lucky winner.

Is there a list about all the campaigns which have already been confirmed?
