S/S 2009 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

I surprised and disappointed that Natalia Chabanenko couldn't find a spot in that Prada campaign. I mean afater opening and closing the first season, you would think she'd be at least given a shot in a campaign such as the one this season.

well she is brunette.. maybe she should have done Miu Miu.. yeah I find Prada castings really fickle sometimes.

Remember Anna Maria Urage(can't spell)skya???

Or Adina Forisz??

I think its weird Suvi also didn't make the cut for Balenciaga or Prada.. I cannot stand the girl in print sometimes.. but I even have to admit that I find her exclusion from some of these mega-brands sort of strange

It's a tad ridiculous to think they all have different faces. It's a tall thin blonde overload, Emma Mclaren looks like Anna, Anna's similar to Toni, Sigrid has been mistaked for Toni, Anabella and Diana F are interchangeable, I've been to Cato's, Imogen's and Nimue's or Marloes's thread several times and I still don't know what they look like. So much for more diversity, where are Arlenis, Sessilee, Chanel and Jourdun?

I don't mind it per say, but these girls do all look the same. I doubt the general public will be able to distinguish one blonde from the other. I'm sorry I can't better mask my disappointment, this just seems a case of let's put 10 girls in this season and never have to use them again.

I am so excited about all the campaign news!!

But I read this and.. you are totally right. :ninja:

I'm optimistic though for Sessilee and Jourdan

^ But at the end of the day, it's not really about the general public being able to distinguish one blonde from the other so...

I don't mind that all the girls are tall and thin and blonde, I love tall thin and blonde, but I'm sad for other girls who do so well on the runway and in print and can't seem to nab a great campaign... That's the cruel world of fashion for you!

Balenciaga's choice seem to be more on the newer girls. and i guess the older girls meant Kinga and Iris. and i would think Suvi would kind of clash with Iris and Kinga becos theyre all strong faces and the rest of the girls will fade in the background.

and i think Suvi has established herself in the industry and she would kinda steal the limelight from all the new girls in Prada. and it would make her look like Sasha in the campaign cos the focus would be on her a la Prada Resort 08 camp. :ninja:

For those asking where are the older faces, don't forget this:

It might be too soon to speak on the campaigns (Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Versace, Vuitton etc NOT looking like new girl moments).
TheImagist

We don't know who got these yet ;) We only know Dior so far.

Hmmm....I'm sure I'll end up loving the Balenciaga campaign...but I'm not particularly thrilled about the cast.:innocent:

I certainly am glad with the idea of the campaign going to newer girls...but the thing is...I don't really like many new girls at all....Amanda Laine, such a Debbie Downer, Anya Kazakova, such a Masha Tylena knock-off, Kinga the gremlin, Diana F and Anabela the infants....such a bizarre line-up. I don't mind Iris or Elsa and Anna J is ok, but it just feels like a lame cast. I was hoping the cast would have the same power as the SS 06 girls, but who was I kidding.

I'm a bit happier with Prada simply because I think that Ymre and Toni are stronger, more appealing models, and Anna J, like I mentioned before, is ok....I don't really even think I know who most of the other girls are...I had to look them all up and they're pretty forgettable.

All I can say is, I'm glad the Miu Miu models will be in the background. Imogen Morris Clark:doh:...lets just hope the background is blurry!

I totally agree. And what's even more sad is that most of these new girls are just lame models...I just can't fathom why a designer would want such a boring, forgettable face for their campaign? It's baffling to me, really.

they want to sell the clothes. and strong models will not help cos consumers' eyes would be drawn to them rather than the clothes. believe me, where im from, people dun care abt the models. they just think of them of aliens. and in this case, these campaigns would definitely work here.

Well i certainly dont belive in that theory entirely.Sadly people that i know, and are not into fashion prefer celebs or well known models (usually Supers) because they like opening a magazine and recognizing the star or the model in the campaign, it gets their attention.

My friend always says: when i see someone like Kate Moss in the mag i stop and pause to look at what she is selling.

i can't imagine how these multigirl campaigns will turn out... i'm not a model expert, so i have no idea who some of those girls are, but i know who iris is and like her, i think she could do balenciaga alone and it would look great. and prada, seriously... well, better than linda, that's for sure... i know who toni and viktorya are, and they've done some great work with meisel, which is good, but i have no idea about the rest of the cast...
i just saw that anna s. is doing calvin klein... interesting choice, much better than suvi. and natasha for gucci again? seems like they've realized that only somebody like her could make that collection look reasonable...

^ yep, if that theory work entirely- supermodels arent existing more
