S/S 2010 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

Shocking more Karlie Bashing. Typical.

The campaigns this year have not been that great. Thankfully Dior & Lanvin save it for me so far.

not a single campaign has impressed so far and more KK is just awful.

Karlie for Hermès!? The world's on ending

I hear that!

I'm not even disgusted, I just feel like crying
Why Hermes? I always rely on Hermes to save the season, I guess I'll be staring at Bally ads more than usual this time...

Angelo Marani S/S 10 : Emma Maclaren by ? (I'm guessing Solve Sundsbo again)

I'm not a Karlie-basher and I can actually picture her really well in this seasons Hermés collection but overall... it's indeed not a very impressive campaign season

Why is it that most campaigns from this season have been a major disappointment...? -_-

I feel like it's been like that for the past number of seasons. I know the economy is bad, but are people not capable with coming up with good ideas anymore. The last truly great campaign was Prada SS09 and then you gotta go to 06 and 07 seasons to get the good stuff.

But I agree, this season seems especially weak. At least last season we had Lanvin and Missoni that were fresh and original and beautiful.

^I completely agree with you, even though I feel that Lanvins still great and I have some hope for Jil Sander, cause I really enjoy the minimalistic approach of the clothes and ads.
However, all the really "big names" such a Dior, Gucci, Versace etc. have indeed been an utter disappointment for a fair number of seasons.
To bad though, wonder whos to blame for it. Maybe they should free themselves from all those prestigous photographers and invest or rather trust in up and coming talent. Who shot Missoni last season ?

i'm just surprised(and disappointed) an Iselin campaign came out lookin' 'average'.Daria too. :(

I too think the problem lies in photographers. A lot of it are just same, old, recycled ideas (I mean, hello Chanel, Givenchy, Chloe, etc). And when they do try something 'different' it comes out as pretentious and desperate more than fresh or original (see Balenciaga).

I think it's fair to say that labels are more concerned about making dollars than creating something original.
The Givenchy campaign is such a prime example. It's catchy, edgy, attractive and makes the clothes look commercial. They sell, which is good. But at the same time, it barely represents Givenchy at all. The dark and mysterious aura the clothes carry has been completely negated because of the photography.

there is a lovely St. John's ad in new Bazaar. it's of Karen Elson.

has blumarine been put up? Doutzen is in it and it's looks supremely boring.

Not yet, no.^^

Campaigns this season haven't been good, I agree.-_- Once the economy picks up, fashion campaigns will pick up. You just have to be willing to wait.
