Saint Laurent - The All-Things Saint Laurent Thread

Well, Saint Laurent was the executive producer of 'Emilia Pérez', so we already know what kind of crap awaits us with this one.
They are already at 12 movies, and 6 more to come plus a documentary on AV. They are legitimate producers.
The good thing is that when AV will be leaving YSL, he’ll not come back to fashion.

If he does, I hope it's in art direction and brand building rather than design. His designs kinda suck, but his shows and campaigns were peak.

He could relaunch his own brand with what he learned from Saint Laurent in terms of Art Direction and brand building.
He could even relaunch it with a minority stake from Artemis.

Emilia Pérez aside, I'm actually impressed by the filmmakers they've chosen to work with and support: Cronenberg, Gaspar Noé, Claire Denis, Jim Jarmusch...Taste!
Really? I think the list is good but I find it quite expected. It’s very « French » after all. Cinema d’auteur, coherent.

What I think is more surprising is that it’s not the expected advertising/movies situation like for example it has been with Chanel or Dior when they are involved in movies.

Btw I wonder if Dior is not going to go into that with JWA being involved in the cinema world. The same for Louis Vuitton as NG has expressed his desire to be involved in a science-fiction movie.

I don't think JWA is that much involved in cinema, but I expect a Luca Quadagnino involvement in the near future, maybe for a runway set, windows or even some twist in the boutiques decor (I do find that Peter Marino everywhere a bit dated).

if Hedi is till around to rip off sure he will be around , if not it will be old hedi stuff and helmut newton etc he will be recycling and call it signature style.

this coming from a guy that clearly had other design foundation ideals as modernist asymmetric gladiator fancy signature....that suddenly notice at ysl best way was to go hedi all the way.

my memory is still working well.

Their ruched loafer is trending right now so I’m not surprised. Nina and Corrado are looking like this generation’s Pierre Hardy/Francesco Russo.

What I do find crazy is that people apparently shop Cos as a wholesale brand instead of direct retail. Like there are really that many people out there who go to Lyst and search Cos instead of just going to their website?

I think YSL will continue to decline each quarter until Hedi is back to copy.
Their #1 product, the loafer is a dupe from The Row's eelskin loafer from 2 years ago.

Weird seeing them as I recall in the late 90s those styles 70% off clearance at Barneys. Like I recall high polish ones from some old school Italian shoemaker - they are UES old money IG…

People said MK and A dressed like grandmas for a reason…

Still The row made them popular again and YSL jumped on it to make their version for easy money as usual.

To me that style is The Row now that's how fashion works who did it best first not who did it worse after.

The LYST index to me still means nothing.
When I see No.1 item on the list is a Havaianas flipflop, I kinda laugh.
Anyway congrats Anthony!
