Sarah Michelle Gellar at The Air I Breathe Premiere
Sarah Michelle Gellar looked stunning at the Los Angeles Premiere of The Air I Breathe at Hollywood’s ArcLight Theatre on Tuseday. Sarah arrived in a bright turquoise dress with a gold knit trim - the look had an elegant egyptian feel. The dress was glamorous yet, casual. We were floored when we saw her. Flawless. As soon as we spotted her, we knew the mastermind behind her look had to be celebrity makeup artist
Rachel Goodwin.
Rachel wanted to make sure Sarah's makeup flowed well with the idea of this breezy glamour. And she created a look that was bold and bright, yet simple at the same time. She didn't want to take away from the dress - but rather compliment the bright shade and style. We have to give props to SMG's hairstylist Mara Roszak. Sarah's hair was beautiful and soft, loosely pulled back into a tousled braided up-do - so pretty, unique and fresh.
We quickly called upon our friend Rachel, who was very kind to give us the entire breakdown on her creative process for Sarah's makeup - so everyone can get the look!
(Rachel loved the idea of pairing orange next to turquoise, so before she even prepped Sarah's skin, she decided she would use a bright tangerine color on her lips.)
SKIN:
Rachel prepped her skin with
Amore Pacific - Stabilizing Serum Skin Normalizer. Rachel only had about an hour to get Sarah ready for the premiere, so she need a quick fix. This Amore Pacific Serum is perfect for when you are short on time. It creates the perfect canvas, she tells us. And it preps the skin in minutes flat. Plus, its super moisturizing.
Rachel applied a light sheer gel foundation from
Chantecaille, called Future Skin Foundation in the Camomile shade - she used the
Beauty Blender sponge dampened with rose water to blend the foundation into the skin. Rachel made sure to keep SMG's skin very clean and true to her natural skin color.
Next, Rachel added
Chanel Poudre Cristalline - Ultra-Fine Translucent Powder to Sarah's face. This Chanel powder creates a radiant velvety finish that diffuses light and is not too dewy and not too matte - but a nice in-between balance.
Rachel then applied
Kevyn Aucoin's The Creamy Moist Glow in Tansoleil (apricot) to the hollows of Sarah's cheeks. She applied the creamy peach color using a foundation brush (instead of a blush brush) to create a natural flushed color. She called it, "Sculpting, without actually sculpting." To set the cream blush on her cheeks, Rachel added a touch of
Guerlain Terracotta Moisturizing Bronzing Powder in #1. The bronzing powder is very light and subtle. She also used the bronzer lightly on Sarah's brow bone.
EYES:
Rachel wanted to create a golden wash of color on Sarah's lids. She used
Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour in Gold - all over her eyelid including the brow bone to brighten up her eyes. She also added the Laura Mercier color to the inner corners and bottom lash line of her eyes.
Next, Rachel lined Sarah's upper lids with
Chanel Ecriture De Chanel - Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir - creating a super fine line on the upper lids only. She added
individual eyelashes to Sarah's top lashes starting at the center of the lash line working her way out to the edges. Rachel added two coats of
Chanel Inimitable Mascara - Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel in Black to her upper lashes. And one coat on her bottom lashes. Rachel added a sheer white line of color to Sarah's lower lash line using
Make Up For Ever - Kohl Pencil in Matte White to really make her eyes pop. (She created a fine line and did not need to smudge the white liner in).
BROWS:
Rachel defined SMG's brows with using
Cle de Peau's Eyebrow and Eyeliner Compact in #2. And set the powder with
Anastasia Brow Gel in Blonde.
LIPS:
Rachel applied
Chanel Rouge Allure - Luminous Satin Lip Colour in Exotic to Sarah's lips using her fingers, so the edges of her lips were soft and not so defined. The sheer blotting of color created an orange stain on Sarah's lips. Rachel then added some lip balm to add sheen and to absorb any dryness to finish off the look.
