Yah, we all wear boring clothes like in those pictures...

no not really, in fact I'd say that's probably the most boring, unfashionble people the photographer could have closen to shoot...So I'd suggest people search for more pic's of people in copenhagen than these before you be so quick to judge. Better yet, come visit. ;)

thats what i thought too.. i always thought copenhagen as the fashion central for scandinavia and i was very suprised about the posted pics...

i've got to say that those new pic from finland really show the typical style in finland.. and this is not in positive way. it's so teenager

I sometimes feel that even people who have a very personal style kind of look the same, I wish there were more high-heels and sexy fashion amongst the "alternative" kids.

Hel-looks seems to favour a certain kind of style. Doesn't look like the average fin to me. Not the stylish fin either.

Definitely agree with that..

Of course not. The idea of any of the "country streetstyle" threads is hardly to show some kind of average joe style of each country. Even less is it the meaning of sites like hel-looks, which show styles that the makers of the site like themselves. If their tastes lean toward "scene" style, too bad.

The "average" style of any country is bound to be boring. The majority of people in the world a) don't care that much or b) shop in global chain stores that make everyone in the world look exactly the same.

if you wear high heels here you get strange looks and people calling you a hooker. The clothes you buy from here don't fit. I'm going shopping today. I hope I will find something decent (I haven't shopped in months) . The thing is, that I'd love to buy more 'rare' clothing, but here the shops that sell that kind of things are
a.) very expensive
b.) seem to favour the Finnish 'alternative' style.

Oh at last someone has same kind of thoughts as I do! :flower:

have you tried "super mukava" store in tampere? its a small boutique and the girls have their own line + some rare finnish independent designer stuff there..
everything is very affordable. they even make tapered jeans now..

No, I've only once been to Tampere. I'd love to visit though, it seems like a very nice city. And Tampere has some of the best gigs in Finland.

Ok, I went to 'get some new clothes', which turned out to be a complete disaster. First of all, I haven't shopped for months and am having a never-ending stupid 'identity crisis' of some sort, so I thought I looked like crap in everything. I was there for a couple of hours, but then decided that my shopping spree wasn't going anywhere, so I'll try again next week. I was shocked though how I couldn't find a single piece I loved---I did find a nice pencil skirt at *gasp* KappAhl, but it was a tiny bit too small, I could see my pantyline through it. Every shop seems to be full of teenybopper stuff and shoes that don't fit.

I think most of the hel-look-outfits are hilarious. Look at the NY and Paris style thread and you'll see stylish people.

Well, yes Scandichic... But like has been said, many of the Finnish pics come from a source which favours "alternative" ( ) looks...

Can't say I find the Norwegian looks you just posted that interesting either, just mainstream trendy...?
