i think the pregnancy thing, breaks the charm of the eternal "single doing whatever i want" cliché, but at the same time she spoke about having kids when she was with the russian... so sooner or later it had to happend.

But Carrie never actually considered having kids except for that one time with the Russian but it didn't seem to be that important for her than because she decided for him. I don't think it fits the whole concept if everyone is getting married and pregnant at the end (except for the ones who are already married and have kids). Now if Samantha was getting married to Smith it would show that that they didn't stay true to the characters at all.

that's true, and in one of the commentaries on the dvd didn't michael patrick king say that he never wanted for carrie to get married or be pregnant? (at least during the series)
