I have seen these mentioned in a couple of threads, but I couldn't find a thread specifically about them. I am gathering up all myold magazines, buying some from second hand shops, and started to cut things out, but how exactlydo you all organize yours? do you put them in categories of say dresses, shoes, pants, and jackets, all in seperate sections? would anyone like to post a picture of a few of their pages so we can all enjoy?

wow thats a preatty good topic! im starting mine to!:)

In my book there are pics of celebs or people whos style I like.. then indication about particular styles (for examples "Boho") and tips and notes about outfits I invent.

Oh look-books are brilliant. . .

Mine is organized in styles ('riding', layering, preppy, etc), pieces of clothing (shirts, jackets, accessories, etc.), colors (gold, grey, etc.) or color combinations (black & white, etc.). I really varies...

btw, I use some children's scrapbooks, so I'm able to remove and add pics if that's what I want.

Look Book Archives

I have tons of old magazine cut outs myself and I am not sure if making Look Books should be done by the year or just your own idea of style.
Example: If I make a book for Year 2006 Fall and there is certain picture I have from a magazine from 1999, should I include it ( i mean it does not fall under the trend of 2006)

I have a look book but there is no way I could even try to organise it! I dont really think of fashion methodically - I just work on impulse! There are outfits, individual pieces, and sometimes pictures of places or things that just inspire me.
So all my pictures are just scattered across the pages to look pretty. I love it though. Just flicking through the pages gives me so much inspiration.

i have two so far, there are no "red line" thorugh them, i just put everything in, as i see fit :)

I'm currently doing my BFF a look book as she saw mine and wanted one of her own. I'm going to get her started and then shes going to continue it on.
In my look book I have a list of everything (in detail) that i own - divided into sections such as jeans, skirts, tops etc. There is also looks I love - whether from celeb rags or from fashion pictorials or even the ad combos (e.g. Hugo Boss, S/s 06). Then there are useful tips for my body shape, color charts and relevant quotes about everything necassary - from lingerie to shoes to cleaning to designing. There are also catwalk reports and notes made personally when viewing the shows - either online or when actually there. There are also pics of people Ive seen on the street.
Basically its just a place to keep all your fashion inspiration.
I couldnt live without mine.
This was a great thread topic

Tinetush - Love yours - your look book style is simple. Whereas mine is so detailed (and sometimes way too over the top!) and not so neat in terms of sections like yours.
This just shows that everybodies inspiration is different and we all express ourselves differently. I cant wait to see other peoples pages, I love delving into peoples look books as they are just so personal. Ill show mine when i can find my camera!!
As to what we do ours in - i use plain color paged hard back notebooks in a size just bigger than A5 but not bigger that A4

Look books

I was also thinking of putting see through folders in a binder..
My magazine take out pages need to be more in order, not sure where to start.

Mine was so messy that I gave up.

Didn't benefit from it anyway. I'm much better at just shopping.

It works for some and it doesnt for others. Its such a personal thing!
I find that it hones my focus and gives me something(s) specific to look for when I go shopping, that I know will compliment existing items and looks I have - but hey, thats just me!

My look book is a look wall. I just put all inspirational pix of outfits and such on my closet. but it is so covered and layered sometimes i think i should rip all the pix off and put them in a book. thinking about it....

i started my "fashion files" a couple years ago.I keep everything glued in a composition book and write notes or create collages.I tend to update it whenever i get bored. it is extremely useful for documenting trends & to take as a sort of inspiration when shopping.

here are a few pages from mine:

i'd love to see other tfs-ers' look books

I should try to find mine...from the late 80s- early 90s when I was in high school. I'm sure it would be amusing - although I'm not sure that I kept it.

Right now I have stuff in file folders separated by looks - casual, dressy, work. And a section for potential buys. I find that I work better with outfits, rather than pieces. I'm great with buying pieces on my own - its the putting together that I like to get inspiration on.

I also find that my look 'folder' helps me to clarify my style - the looks that I really love and pull out over and over again. Then again I'm at a different stage then I was when I was younger and more over-the-top into vintage/goth clothing.

Great topic :)

Right now, what I have is an accordion filing folder thing or two with my favorite pages from magazines that I didn't want to keep any more. I've been meaning to paste them in a book but I think that would drive me crazy. I'd need some kind of organization, and that would be difficult with collaging, I think.

Love your books Tinetush & vintageamour.
I keep my magazine inspirations in clear pockets in a loose-leaf binder so I can constantly amend and update. As well as being good inspiration for shopping, I make clothes and like close-ups of design details I can use, like pocket styles, seam finishes etc.

It's just myopinion, but for me, the reason I want to start one is so I can try and figureout if I have any overall style- whereas trends come and go, so unless there is something you want to make a wardrobe staple out of, I don't see much point it doing a book for each season- unless you want to just do it for fun!:flower:
Thanks to everyone whose commented on this thread, I love reading it and seeing the pictures of others lookbooks!

Im attempting to do one of these too. So far my "look book" has been on my computer but i just bough a sketch book to start sticking images that inspire me in. Thing is, I hate cutting up my magazines. Ive taken to scanning images or printing them off the internet
