Share your look book

It's just myopinion, but for me, the reason I want to start one is so I can try and figureout if I have any overall style

thats also the aim of my book. I have found MY style yet so Im giving this ago to see if there any sort of recuring themes or styles to my choices.

I haven't made any looksbooks, but I'm starting to think that maybe I should try it out. But since I don't want to cut in any of my fashion magazines, I just think I'll print pictures from the internet.
*mette-marit* actually just inspired me to make a lookbook, to find out my overall style, since I'm not yet quite what it is, so I'll only put in pictures of outfits that I really adore.

Making a Lookbook ?

How do you keep track of styles you like (say if you're not sure exactly what looks/styles you like)...do you go through a magazine and cut things out, put sticky notes on pages, what do you keep cut-outs in?....

I'm looking for suggestions to get started with my very own lookbook of sorts for this Spring 2007 season...all ideas/suggestions for whatever you do welcomed!

Thanks

That's what I'm doing- I just go through all magazines, newspapers, look at pictures on the internet, and print off, cut out things and stick them into a scrap book!:flower:

That's what I'm doing! I figure it's a better learning 'exercise' if you only put things you REALLY love in there!
I'm so glad this thread has inspired you to do a look book, as it is so interesting and I hopeyou have as much fun with it as I am! I actually got the idea from tealady! but she doesn't know it probably, so a shout-out to tealady and a big thanks! I was reading a thread about style where it was suggested to someone by her and I though 'well I'm going to do the exact same thing!'

While I've been doing this, I've noticed that there are certain things I thought I liked, but now I am not really so into them- and a certain neckline on tops I once liked I have now decided is completley unflattering on me! so I'm definetley glad I did this!
There are also certain things, and styles of certain people that I thought I didn't like but I am now thinking are not so bad.
Has this happened to anyone else? has really studying and looking at and thinking about these things at great length made you change your mind about certain things?

I've had a look book for years now. I use a binder with clear plastic inserts. I put in a mish-mosh of inspiring looks from various magazines that I have saved and turn to it for inspiration when putting together an outfit for myself or figuring out how to accessorize something. For the most part, I have a very classic look and gravitate towards that sort of style, so my book rarely becomes outdated (for me personally), Every so often, I took remove a "what was I thinking?" type of look though. I adore my look book. I actually have two...one for fashion and one for hair/makeup.

I am going to start this either today or tomorrow, depending on how much time I have. I am thinking of putting the pictures all in a folder... the problem is that I can't stand mess or clutter, but I hope I will be able to keep this "inspiration book" until the end of this year. I am receiving a bunch of old fashion magazines from my friend, and will start cutting them up soon. I would love to hear more about how others do this, and see photos. How to get your "look book" very organized? I don't want mine to be messy.

Would having one outfit on one A4 page be too simple? I think that way I could have it all organized and there would be no mess to get on my nerves. I love cutting up magazines, and I can't wait until I get home so I can start it. I am cutting everything that looks remotely interesting out and pasting them to the book.

I decided to get myself a folder and plastic pockets. Then I went through a pile of magazines from 1999-2006 and tore out everything that took my breath away. It is no use ripping out everything that interests you, as you are going to have to have a lot of folders if you decide to go that way. I have almost one folder full of beautiful and inspiring pages now... most old editorials. It's helping me to find out my style - I have realised some things I did not before.

wow..
i have a loose collection of cut-outs and pages from magazines with things that i love or that inspire me.. but somehow i never thought of putting them together in a look book.

well now i've got something to do during easter-hollidays :-)

I wish I could start one. But..everytime I TRIED cutting out pictures from my Vogue/Teen Vogue....my heart went "Ouch!"...

I have not the courage to HURT my magazines.....

I have no problem cutting up my magazines. I have so many, it would be pointless to leave them intact, because I will never get around to looking through all of them. So I just cut them out.
I'm a little hesitant to cut my $15+ magazines though...because well, they were $15.

me neither ;)
that's why i make sketches and write down the number/name/year of the magazine.

well, i won't cut up my vogue or amica issiues..
but all the other mags..

I find I am starting to cut out a lot of things that are a little bit 'maybe' for me- because I'm getting so into it I don't want to leave anything out. at the moment everything is still in a box, nothing has been stuck into the scrapbook yet! I am ending up with quite a collection, and I'm thinking that some of it may end up not being stuck in by the end- and for those of you who don't like to cut up magazines, think of it this way- you can get rid of them and clear up a lot of space once you have cut out all the things you want to keep. there is no point keeping something that collects dust and causes clutter and gives you less storage space. or the way my mother always put it to me when I accumulated any clutter- she went on and on about the fire hazzard angle- she would say if there was a fire my room would go up in a minute- good scare tactic I guess! also, you can then put the scrappy cut up magazine in your recycle bin, so it's a great thing to do all round!

^what a mean mom  jk

I've started printing out styles I like from style.com and the sartorialist.

yes! it was her way of trying to get me to clean my pigsty of a bedroom when I was a kid! when you think about it though, she was probably right!:D

so i just stared doing my look book.
that's going to be hard work :-)

It is definitely a long project and it is also continuous. I have been doing mine consistently for years (sort of a fun hobby of mine), but isn't the type of project that has an end. I like that about it though, and it is fun to see how my tastes have evolved.
