Shoes: yay or nay? #1

Time for me to Yay or Nay more shoes!

Those Chanel ankle boots (Post #9,754) are a Nay!, but not seriously ugly. They're manageable at best. Not real keen on the two-tone look. If you're going to do two-tone, it's best to have two colors that go together, even a strange combination. This chocolate brown with this primer gray isn't a very good combination. The tips of the shoes plus the heel and sole detail are almost suggestive of classic Converse sneakers. But overall, they're a Nay. You can still give them a chance if you can get any nice outfits working. These would be boots to take a chance with in putting looks together.

From sleek ankle boots to the open-air comfort of sandals (Post 9,761). There's nothing special about these sandals. Nothing that provides a real sizzle or any kind of "I want that!" out of them. You see, there are two different kinds of plain. Plain as in, uninteresting; and plain as in, simple and lovely. This is more along the lines of simple and lovely. I can't say Nay because I don't hate the style of the sandals to where I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a simple pair of black sandals, nothing like a good wedge. Here's one of the ones I'm torn on for two reasons:

* if you're looking for a simple, yet stylish pair of sandals, these are a Yay.
* if you're looking for something interesting and lovely, these are a Nay.

This thread isn't "Yay, Nay, or Draw." But this is more of a draw to me. Depends on what you're looking for.

Taylor, I love the clunky shape of those and think you could do a lot with them. But I think they would look bad with a lot of things too.

So a tentative Yay, under the assumption that they fit in with the rest of your outfits.

Yeah I have some great pieces that I can totally picture them with.

Thanks for your input everyone :)

Vel, aside from the garish logo, the grey and black just doesn't work. Grey and black can work, and work well, just not in that case.

Thanks for all the responses on my last post. Butttttt after sleeping on it, I decided against both :innocent: So now these:

and Nay to velony and citypigeon

Nay on the shoe itself.

But also Nay to anything from iOffer since they won't do anything about counterfeits.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. I don't think I'll get the Chanels. I wasn't convinced from the beginning and have my eyes on some other shoes that I'll post here later.

angela, nay.

I've seen a fair share of wedge sneakers online that look better than the Nay!-worthy wedges in Post #9,772. I even seen sneaker-style wedge sandals from Guess last night. If you're looking for high-heel wedge sneakers, this wouldn't be the pick to choose. Two options- look for a good pair of retro-style sneakers, or find a cute pair of wedge skimmers like from American Eagle, Skechers, Unionbay, or anything ike that. The wedge sneaker you posted is a fail.

So I know the top is not spectacular but look at the heel.
