Shopping for Family of Brands-Carpe Diem, Linea, etc...

Albert, Have you looked into Linea in detail?
It might fit you more, I think.
Its basically the more slim-cut and highly experimental line of C Diem.

Hey Raijin, no I haven't had a chance to see or touch any Linea. I tried looking for it on ebay, but apparently some other crap *** company is named Linea as well hahaha

Do they carry it at Atelier? I'm definitely hoping that there will be some pieces in the $300 range thru LMaltieri/C.Diem... I'd like to try the brand out so to speak before I invest heavily in a leather shirt or the linen pants(which are absolutely awesome by the way. The little button string/loops to close the front are absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!).

I can see how the line is very separate from other brands. I would definitely have a hard time mixing some of the more "earthy" pieces with other brands. The overall look of the line is extremely organic I feel, and I just can't see the linen pants, or the leather shirt worn with anything but more of Altieri's designs. It's like you NEED the worn leather boots for the look. A slim pair of smooth black leather shoes wouldn't look right.

How do you mix your Linea/C.Diem/LMaltieri pieces with your other clothes? Since my closet seems to be predominantly Dior at the moment... which is a very "new", slim, sleek cutting, it seems like these Linea/C.Diem/LMaltieri pieces would clash. Of course the dress shirts, tees and long sleeved shirts would work pretty well since they are universal in terms of pairing... but the leather shirt and the various pants?

I wear a lot of Rick Owens and CCP as well, so I tend to blend their looks with C Diem/Linea stuff. They are closer to the same vibe, but not nearly as earthy as c diem.
I do think its quite hard to mix, especially with Dior. If you have one of the basic black 3/4 length jackets from Dior I can see that working however. Linea is probably easier to blend with the Dior in your closest because it is more monochromatic and has an even slimmer silhouette. I think the slim-fit pants can go well with a blazer as well, if you have any by Dior in your wardrobe.

They do carry a relatively limited selection of Linea at A, but they said all the interesting pieces have sold. Except for the crushed/salted leather slim fit pants, which i am still trying to save for

Oh, Albert - Was it the 'working coat' you are talking about from C Diem that costs near 1k?

Thats a 3/4 length kind of light bathrobe like coat, its very good for summer.

And about the leather, the thickness and treatments depends on the model, In general Linea leather is thinner.

hmm, it wasn't quite 3/4 length. A little higher, sort of like a longer blazer of sorts I think. I can't remember it clearly now hehe. Maybe i should cut back a little on the saturday night partying.

So just how many of Altieri's pieces are at Atelier right now? I'm thinking about taking a trip down to the city to check things out and scope out the shoes again at Barney's before the presale at the beginning of summer.

Before I drop $1000+ on individual items, I want to see what Altieri pieces other stores carry compared to Alan Bilzerian. I'm definitely in love with the crushed white leather shirts and the thick linen shirts! There is this gorgeous gray pair of pants at Bilzerian, but putting down $1200 for it just doesn't quite seem right hahaha. It really seems like the leathers are the most worthwhile investment?

I'm psyched to see what A carries, now that I actually have the address of the place hahaha.

A just got a new delivery, so the stock is replenished. Linea will be gone after this season, so it's a better bet for a collector's item. I don't think that A has anything in the $300 range, but if walk over to IF (Grand st, between Greene/Mercer) you'll find a two toned/two fabric top for $340. Noone mentions IF in this thread, maybe because they have only a few pieces, but it's there
:flower:

And to answer your other question, once you see the lineup at A, you'll realize how other designers can work with CDiem. That's one thing I love about A, they have a clearly defines and easily recognizable aesthetic. Have fun there! I wish I still worked in the area, I'd meet you there.

According to the japanese store, Linea will in fact continue to a/w 05-06.
The production is just decreasing which means that (maybe) A will not carry it.

Cool, thanks for the update Faust!

Hmm, I don't think going there with $1000 in my pocket is going to be enough, I think a few more weeks before I visit will be a good idea. That way I can generate a bit more so that I can go and pick up something if I decide that I want it.

I saw that LMaltieri jacket on yoox after it had sold, what a pity! I would have bought it had I known what I know now about the line!

Okay...I really don't love any LMaltieri I've ordered so far. Actually, with the exception of one pair of pants, I don't even like it. And about the unisex issue, since the smallest size pant (I) seems to be a baggy-cut 29x34, how many fashion-conscious women can really wear the stuff? I sure as hell can't wear it...

Never thought I'd be returning a pair of LMaltieri pants I got for $84...

AlexN, if you don't like the cut... why not get it altered? For $84, it wouldn't hurt to put a bit of tailoring into them right?

and keep in mind its all off yoox. not the greatest selection to say the least.

hey faust, you happen to have IF's number? i can't find anything online about them...

It would be a LOOOOOOT of tailoring. I'd rather put $84 bucks into something else.

whats the matter with it anyways? if it's too big for you, PM me. I could maybe take it off of your hands hehe.

Cheers mate,
Albert

They're just sooo baggy and huge. It's gross. And they're so heavy that they gradually kinda slide down on my hips. They're just not attractive in any way.
