Continues Family of Brands-Carpe Diem, Linea, etc...

amazing!...
thank you runner...

i love it when art meets commerce...

i got all excited watching the video thinking that maurizio was going to speak, but that section has no voice over or explanation...
not that i am really surprised by that...
...

runner its funny to see you quoting directly from maurizio, His v&u typing has something to do with latin am i correct?

I was lucky to see his space privately with him that evening, and to talk about the past and future. The footwear is truly beautiful, carpe is timeless but the work of m_moria really does surpass his previous works.
I am not sure how they have sold, if any are left or not, the prices were very high understandably. As far as i know the cube will remain on the roof.

I shocked to see myself in that video, i had no idea there was filming going on that evening.

hey taupe---
the whole event looks amazing...
since you got to go irl, was it as great as it looks in the video?
:P

i hope the cube does stay on the roof...
that's very cool!

I think yes taupe, then, nonetheless, all written in small letters, which represents what his work is, that is, avantindietro, regenerating, etc...

the description of japan from softgrey's viewpoint made me think altieri too might have been a fan of the japanese gardener outfit lol.

Maurizio Altieri – m_moriabc

The research and analytical work of Maurizio Altieri has always been extensive and quite elaborated. Echoing similar ideas explored at Carpe Diem, the fully titled m_moriABC suggests an intriguing investigation on the nature of time.

The project, first presented by Altieri in 2012, is divided into three different moments: past, present and future, each of them represented by the alphabetical letters A B C, put in linear order to preserve continuity. Going back to the beginning of words and temporality, Maurizio Altieri reflects on what has been, he reinterprets what is going on nowadays and finally he sets the path for the things that will come after.

m_moriABC eschews all decoration not integral to the shoes' primal structure. The use of materials, working and tanning techniques evoke the staples of the shoemaking tradition, generally associated with a rather conservative bourgeois style. Altieri subverts those preconditions by twisting, re-writing and re-generating the classic cordwaining methods.

A reviews the potential that exists in the past without paying a simple nostalgic romantic homage. Altieri focuses on the values and techniques of tradition. Honoring the craft and the aesthetic of utilitarian footwear, A continues a forgotten era by cherishing what has been handed down through years yet changing it to make it part of its own heritage.

B meditates upon familiar shapes and ideas found in contemporary society. Through careful extraction Altieri deflects the lineage of contemporary footwear, and produces a coherent and streamlined representation.

C represents the future and it is thus inconclusive, setting the direction in which we move forward. Following the evolution of Avantindietro, C proposes a sleek silhouette and a lower heel. Altieri's analytical research moves forward through conceptually looking backwards.

m_moriABC laces are fused together to form an infinite loop with no end. The project pushes us to rediscover the past, understand the present and sense the future. By looking backwards we move forward in a cycle of endless repetition. Evolution happens through cumulative efforts that bring us back to the starting point, perhaps enriched, perhaps in late, perhaps in advance….

thanks softgrey
in the FW 2005 video in the loft space there are some of fattoamano (and ego-wrappin too, as you say) recognizable.
and around the beggining you can see t-shirts from what they called "bach project".

it was an interesting season at the stores because ccp didn't produce the seasonal collection, which those dealers had to make up for. stores needed a richer variety of carpe pieces there than usual and carpe met the needs. in retrospect, that was the last season of fertility for cdiem.

@runner...
is this the front and back of the same label/tag?
cannot really read the first one so well, unfortunately...

also...
what does it mean?

"where ? worked in the other Italy."

the other Italy? what other Italy?
...:ermm:...

yes one side and the other.
the text on the black (negative) side is made blurred, except certain part.
the folding leaflet continued for some years after that season, but the texts on both sides were gone the next year while only that reversal image remained there.

one could be italy as in "made in italy".
for example, one of the then industry trends was brands leaving hand-stitching part of the manufacturing process to india. it was not (regarded as) a particularly shady thing. but it's the hand-stitching that was the feature of that made-in-italy product.
altieri was saying like.....there were many skillful artisans in italy, but they were getting less jobs. he wanted them to participate. even if that means the ethic of waste instead of thrift.

so, "worked in the other italy", as opposed to "made in italy"

the scan below is from the mens fashion magazine mrh. the boots from various brands that were available in the market of FW 1999.
you can clearly see where he was, at that time.
