Shopping on eBay

Does anyone know of any sellers of good and authentic used purses, especially Prada?

Well, I'll like to buy a T3 travel hairdryer for myself, and the prices on Ebay (anything from $80-$90) are so tempting - they are going for half of what they retail for at say, Sephora.

Anyone know why this is so? Is it safe to buy T3 hair dryers off eBay?
I'm a little worried on what to do should something happened to the hairdryer

^ As long as you buy one brand new sealed in box that hasnt been tampered with, I think it should be fine.

I have a question....

how do you pick your favorite sellers? say you're looking for a "fountain pen" do you just type in that word and see what comes up...research who has the best pen for the best price and then choose a favorite seller from there?

what say you? thanks. :flower:

Hello! I pick my favorite sellers based on product and customer service. I find that customer service is key when buying on eBay. Being a seller myself, I try to find those with best communication, willingness to provide further detail and send more pictures.

Regarding searching for a "fountain pen," I would just type that and then sort out the results. In this case, I would NOT click on the box "search title and description" in order to eliminate unecessary results. When you search, it will give you a bunch of categories, and I guess you would just go from there. Upon finding the kind you want, I check out the seller... what he/she has sold in the past, feedback rating, what else he/she is currently selling. I usually don't buy into the whole sob story "I am selling this because I need the money for this and bla bla bla" because quite honestly, it shouldn't make a difference why you are selling, since everyone sells to make money! Good luck!

this one is for all of you who sell/buy on eBay... I would like your input as both...

Hello! I am a seller and am pretty flexible when it comes to returns... However, my buyer purchased something on 5/12/06, received it on 6/3/06!! (yeah, she was out of town and forgot to tell me), notified me she wanted to return it on that day.... and since then, she has responded to my e-mails about every 6 days!!!!! Now, she told me she was out of town b/c her friend had to go through chemo and all this stuff, but she also said she would be BACK in town on 6/13. The phone number she has registered on eBay no one answers - ever, nor does it have an answering machine. What do I do? I want to be flexible since I was notified of the return, but the woman is showing no signs of life (to me) - but as of the 18th, the eBay username has been bidding/buying, so someone is there. I have sent e-mails, messages through eBays, called... nothing. She is a reputable buyer, with feedback in the 1800's (99.6% positive)... but she has had the item for 18 days now! What do I do? Someone please help! (sorry for the length...)

Vey interesting thread!! What i would like to ask is what happens if you order for example a designer handbag outside US (e.g. Italy), which cost lets say $600 and the seller sent it by mail. What happens with customs? Do you have to pay extra taxes except these $600?. What happens if you bought it from an independent guy (so not receipt
available) not a store?
Thank you for your help:smile:

It depends on the seller's guidelines. Most people forget that when shipping to certain countries, you have to pay duties. I made that mistake when I sent a bag from Brazil to Denmark... the lady had to pay a LOT in duties (for a used bag!), but luckily, she was nice about it and didn't complain. Usually the seller makes YOU pay for the duties... She mentioned that had I stated a lower value for the bag that she wouldn't have paid so much, but I explained to her that I needed to be covered by the insurance. (I even wrote a MUCH lower amount just to avoid problems with customs!)

If the seller is sending the bag as a gift, you might be OK, but you are better off asking him how he's going to sell it and then find out from the US Customs the procedure...

For all the bags I sent to the US from Brazil, my buyers never had to pay duties. I always wrote that it was a lower amount and a gift so not to cause problems... they were also used bags, but unless customs opened the boxes, they wouldn't know that.

Good luck!:flower:

I love ebay. My only complaint is Private Feedback.
That is totally wrong, esp when sellers are selling designer luxury goods.

So, let me get this straight - the buyer has the item, and you have the money? If that's the case, don't worry about contacting the buyer, let them come to you. It's their problem, not yours.
As long as you didn't give a refund before they returned the item, I'm not sure what the problem is. Except for you being too nice of a seller!

^^ Agreed.

And if they fail to comply within a certain amount of days.. there's no way they can file a claim or anything with ebay...

Stop stressing and let them go out of their way.

Why??

You still have the same rights in ebay about getting the money back, so there is no difference there.

Ive dealt with private sellers before and gotten really good deals on designer items.

Who here has not spend a lonely night searching ebay for a true love...say a pair of lovely shoes, a top, or some accessory? Guilty as charged

Yup! I just wanted to avoid any negative feedback, you know? I know it's their problem... thanks!!!!!:flower:

Thanks Luna! So if my refund policy stated 14 days and that time has passed, they can't file anything with eBay?

Sidenote: can you believe the user ID is still active on eBay and won't answer my messages/e-mails? The nerve! I'm trying to be the good person here... and as of the 26th she was out there leaving and receiving feedback! :flower:

^^ I think that you are guilt-free if you clearly stated your return policy. The person agreed to those terms by buying the item, so imo you have no further responsibility to them.

Thank you!!!!!!!!! :flower:

I think the way ebay works... if it's 30 or 60 (I dont remember), the person can't file a complaint with ebay after a certain amount of time.

Plus, yea, if you put a return policy in your auction, and they didn't comply, you probably won't be penalized for anything.

I sold a sample bag on ebay a few months back... and the person claimed it was damaged (which it wasn't... at least not when I sent it!)... a month later she emailed me and told me that the bag was all worn on the edges... Keep in mind, she's had the damn thing for almost a month! ... she ended up taking so long to respond... that a certain amount of time passed and she couldn't do anything about it.

If you have perfect feedback and you tend to sell a bit on ebay, they'll side with you in a lot of things, after all.. they're making money from your auctions.
