Ebay???

Hi All,

I just found this website and I have been reading some threads. This thread interested me because I have been looking on the Ebay website for handbags. Here is my question!!! Since you guys are pretty much experts as to which bags are fake, can you please tell me if this bag is fake. This sellers description says it's authentic, has a signature prada lining, authenticity cardsand dust bag. They are also say they will guarantee it is authentic or your money back. How true is this bag???? Thank for all your help!!
Please do not link to ebay

I purchased at least 50% of my wardrobe on Ebay. It's nice to find nice shoes/tees/blazers/sweaters/ that lack in retailstores. And grabbing designer jeans for cheap is addictive

Ebay is fantastic! I'm addicted! :innocent:

Just to repeat a few good tips- Always check someone's feedback rating. If you feel unsure, try just buying from sellers close to you until you are more confident (ie. ebay.com.au if you are in Australia is for items located within australia). Only ever pay by paypal or bank deposit- never a method that can't be tracked, like cash or western union wire transfer. Ask questions of your seller, and make sure you feel ok about what you are buying (ask all questions before hand, and honest sellers will usually be nice and helpful). I have been ripped off a couple of times- payed for something and never received it, but nothing too severe.

Generally, bags and things taht sound too cheap/good to be true that claim to be new and authentic (exceptions can be second hand or vintage items from private sellers) generally are. For example, if you see a Balenciaga bag for $200, and the seller has more than one of them, then it is fake.

It's also great for items other than clothes- eg. Makeup, perfume, books, cd's, vintage jewellery/bags, etc.

Are there fees for buying on EBAy or signing up to be a buyer?

There are no fees to buy things, but you will need a credit or debit card to sign up (no fees will be charged, it is just to validate your identity).

There are small fees involved with selling, but nothing hefty. Iin fact, i love selling on ebay, it's a great way to clear out my wardrobe and beauty cabinet to make way for all my new things!!

Hope that helps! :flower:

The fees involved in being a seller depends on how much the final sell price is and ebay takes a precentage of that.

If something does not sell,do you still pay?

Also, when going to sign up on ebay they ask for your name, address, phone number,etc...are those essential and is it safe and secure?

I mean I could understand why they would need to know, but at the same time I'm not all that happy about typing those things into cyberspace...and it's not as if it's a tiny set-up like NAP.com,it's monstrous ebay...eeek...:o

You still pay a listing fee, which is a couple of dollars.

Ebay and PayPal use military grade encription, so information on their website is as safe as it can get (of course nothing is 100% safe). I'd be worried about NAP more, actually. Anyway, you should read all Ebay and PayPal rules carefully yourself and make the decision yours.

Quirky, you have to give them your correct details because if you win something on ebay, the seller gets your address so they know where to send your item.

Just be wary of spoof emails which pretend to be from ebay asking you to "confirm" your password etc. Ebay never ask you to do stuff like that!

Thank you for the information, faust and vintage princess.

And I'll be sure to read the rules and decide for myself;I just wanted to hear some other experiences:flower: .

What about buying make up and skin care on ebay? HAs anybody anything to share? I am thinking of getting Bobbi Brown shimmer and maybe MAC brushes etc...
Any fav sellers?

Thanks

Usually I dont want to buy make up or skincare form ebay, because it might be used already.:yuk: But I suppose if its from a reputable seller and its brand new and sealed, its ok :flower:

Well, to be honest, I don't buy very much from eBay. I have bought some items that have been unavailable by other means, such as my Matthew Williamson Butterfly Sky + Box... it...missed out at Selfridges when they were released.

Can't speak for make-up, but I, personally, will NEVER buy fragrances on Ebay - they fakes market is way too big to take risks like that. I would say if the savings are not significant - don't risk it.

I have bought alot of clothes off of ebay. Have not had any bad expericances. *Knock on wood* I always check the sellers feedback and read the listing closely and look at the pictures. If I think something might not fit then I won't bid on it. Also have not bought any big ticket designer items just because I dont want to risk it being fake and you have to sort through alot of people selling fakes.
Tips for finding clothes include, trying different search words and just searching the listings. If you find one listing you like trying using the words in the listing to look for similar items and look at what else the seller has for sale.

couple of vintage clothes sellers:
london-ny
mama stone vintage
the olive shoppe
