Simply Vera : Vera Wang for Kohl's

I hadn't been paying this too much attention until I saw the ad in Vogue. Immediately I thought "omg this is so cute" and then I saw the price. It's well overpriced. Why would you spend that much on a dress from Kohls when you could get something from Marc by Marc Jacobs for the same price. We'll see when its on sale.

Why does the store you get the clothes from matter if you like the style and quality of the clothes?

I guess it doesn't matter if you regularly spend that much on clothes but my splurges at the outlet mall. basically, im not spending that much on anything atm

I really like that little puffy blue skirt. It's adorable *wants it*

I also like the dusky pink jacket...

you know, i was a little surprised at how high the prices are, but then i remembered that kohls generally runs so many discounts in their stores, and they regularly offer lots of coupons, sales and such. my advice would be to get on a mailing list or email list...

I think Marc by Marc is significantly more expensive, yes? Hundreds of dollars for a skirt vs I think around $80 or so from Simply Vera ...

^ I didn't understand that comparison either. I find Marc by Marc Jacobs clothing to be priced too high for what it is, whereas this Vera Wang collection actually has decent prices.

The pleated dress from the link in #146 is beautiful! I'll wait until I get some coupons or there's a sale, because $140 is still too expensive for me. The details are amazing, however, and I cannot wait until my local Kohl's stock up on the items.

^ I've had Marc by Marc before that I thought was really worth the $$$, but I think you really have to pick & choose. A lot of it *should* be offered at this price point ... I'm excited about this because it seems like the kind of price point where they could really offer decent quality, but where you rarely get designer input. I buy stuff at this price point a lot, but it's generally not that exciting ...

My thoughts exactly. Like I've said before there is very little in between H&M or Target designer lines and the actual lines themselves or diffusion lines. I mean these prices are lower then Club Monoco, where I've started shopping more and comparable to J.Crew.

this is an ongoing project, right?
i mean, she will continue doing this season after season? ...
i think that is one of the most exciting aspects of it...
that it's not just a three-month thing like target's go-designers...

^ I remember reading an article which described the contract as "multiyear," so I'm hoping there will be several seasons.

This is really remarkable, both the designs and the prices. I wish there was a Kohl's near me.

Vera has been a real grower as of late - very smart and lovely transition for her.

^ I second that! I certainly hope the site is still under construction, because at the moment it's lagging quite badly.

In any case, the shoes look very intriguing. The prices are still a bit shocking for Kohl's, but that's to be expected considering this is a designer line. Thanks again for the link!

I'm looking at the apparel section and just can't get over how beautiful some of the pieces are. The car coats look like something out of the 1930s, and the dresses remind me of her F/W 07.08 collection.

I simply cannot wait until this hits stores; I'm eyeing several of the coats.

I think everything is really lovelhy and ageless - not necessarily original but that's where keen styling would come in. I don't care for some of the shoes, tbh. It's pretty good all around, though.

Man, she has nice stuff in her collection. IMHO, much better than her main collection. You can see an influence of this designer and that designer, but still chic

I went to Kohl's today to look at the collection. The quality, style, and pricing seems to be on par with Banana Republic. The shirts are all very soft and silky and the skirts and jackets were well-constructed. The beige car coat with 3/4 sleeves and the navy brocade skirt were probably the most outstanding pieces. I didn't buy anything (poor college student syndrome) and the sizing seems a bit big but it's worth checking out.
