Stockings and Sandals!!!

I'm really sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure where to put it...

I have a question... A friend of mine has a black tie Saturday night wedding to attend and she has a t-length black satin dress she's wearing. She wants to wear black strappy sandals, but she thinks she needs to wear stockings since it's a black tie affair and her legs are a little on the pale side . I'm telling her it's a huge fashion faux pas to wear stockings with sandals... but she doesn't know what to do...

What do you think? Is not wearing stockings acceptable?

I don't think it's necessarily a huge faux pas to wear the stockings (black, I assume?), and I would say the acceptability of bare legs may depend on where she is. Is she in the South? I am & have pretty much stopped wearing hose during the summer, but I would reconsider for something very formal/somber like a funeral--and perhaps a wedding.

It's in NY, and they make stockings now that are open on the toes.. like there is a thread that lays between the first and second toe so your tootsies aren't covered... but I think bare toes and covered legs would look weird.

She didn't meantion a color... I would assume either black or beige.

I haven't seen these new stockings you mention, but they sound like the worst faux pas of all

I know, it sounds pretty bad. lol, I guess it's for people who like to wear stocking under pants...

I hate stockings altogether!!!

I told her to use some self tanner on her legs and toss the stockings!
