Style My Hair

my hair is rather short at the moment. i don't really want to have it long ever again, but i also don't want to go to the hairdresser at the moment (lack of money, time, and so on and so on)
yeah. so my problem. my hair is as stubborn as i am. it just lies there, all flat. i can do whatever i want, it always seems to fall back into place and is just flat and that looks blah *doh*
so anyone got any idea what i can do, without spending all my time in the bathroom, styling it? lol i don't even know what to do after washing it. i usually don't blow-dry it, but when i comb it after washing, it turns out even flatter *pweh*

any tips? i'd really appreciate it

Last fall I chopped my hair into a gamine pixie and bleached it to platinum. I absolutely LOVE it, but several months of bleaching are really taking their toll on my hair. I use deep conditioning masks all the time and I started with healthy hair, but I can't seem to stop it form splitting and breaking. It's getting pretty bad. SO I regret to say I'll have to stop bleaching it. Will dying it darker make it healthier? I don't know what to do. I'm kinda sad about changing it because I totally love this look. I thought I could make it last a year at least but my hair is just getting too fried and brittle.

Here is the post right after I did it with more toning done, but after a while it got to golden yellow looking so I switched to toning it more ash and less gold:

And here are the most recent pics of me and my hair in it's current state:

So I am asking, should I dye my hair dark? Would that make it healthier? And what color should I do it? THank you in advance!:flower:

are you naturally really dark? if so i think you should grow it out a bit so that you have the dark routes and the very blonde ends... i think thats a really really good look and then maybe (after its grown a whilt) cut the blonde bits off gradually so its back to your natural colour and healthier as well... if that makes any sense at all

hmm... yeah, that makes sense. I guess I was jsut gonna go to the other extreme and do a deep brown. I was thinking like Audrey Tautou. It's probably smarter (and definately healthier to grow in my natural color. Which is a dark blonde/light brown. I guess it's avery in-between color naturally (not quite brown, not quite blonde) so it makes me bored. But you're right, I should probably give my hair a rest all together from color. I'm just afraid it will look too boring.
This is mostly my natural color before bleaching but it is highlighted some.

this is the most recent picture I have

I think about going lighter..maybe not golden blond but a bit darker..?
anyone has a color suggestion? or shouldn't I go lighter at all?

I really don't know If it would look good...
but I'm bored with my hair

Don't go lighter. Your hair current color suits you very well. If you still insist on having a color change, don't go more than a shade or two lighter... Highlights don't have to look tacky if they're done right and they're not dramatic. Simple and subtle is the key!

You would do well with a fringe, too.

To update, I just dyed my hair a medium brown from a box and it turned out fine. I think after a week I will do it once more to bring it to a deeper chocolately brown and I will just let the damaged part that was bleached grow out and get cut off. I just had to dye it though. Having dark roots with peroxide blode and letting it grow out slowly was driving me mad! I could wait until my next appointment which isn't until the 15th!

I'm in dire need of a new cut! I cut it back in August and my side bangs are growing long and I think it's time for a change. Unfortunately, like always, I have trouble picking out a new haircut.

Here are some pictures of me:

So, I just want to ask you girls what haircut(s) would suit me. Please provide pictures if you can, I would really appreciate it! :flower:

alright guys, I really really need your help.

my last visit at the hairdresser's was in November, and by now I am just so incredibly sick of it all. I find myself so extremely boring I just absolutely need to change something.

needless to say, I have no idea on what exactly would be best.

generally put I tend to like it a little messy and I am not very good at performing style orgies every morning, so I'd opt for something that is easy to handle and looks effortlessly relaxed and not too glamorous/done. (kind of like Cat Power/Kate Moss, if you get the idea.)

I've had the length you can see in the pictures for about 5 years now and basically I like it longer, then again I want a drastic change so I'm afraid if I keep it below shoulderlegth there will be no difference whatsoever.

right now I only have lots of layers; option: a fringe. problem: I have really smooth and downright hair which I am afraid will simply hang down to my not so tiny nose and look awful, and that sounds like a horrible idea to me especially since I am not sure I have the facial structure for a fringe.

I tend to wear glasses at times so it might all just become too much and get in the way.

another dilemma: the colour. being a natural dark blonde I find it pretty boring. just nothing special. on the other hand I am afraid a drastic change will not suit me.

I tried to find style generators online where you can try out different styles on your pic but couldn't find any.

sorry for the rant, but this is just a dilemma that is driving me insane...

pictures would be greatly appreciated, anything that helps me get out of my hair crisis would turn me into one eternally grateful excessive karma giver, so please see what you can do.

thanks a lot.

I have hair extensions now but I want to take them out but I`m not sure what kind of cut I want or what could look good...I don`t want to go too short. One thing is sure: I want to dye my hair dark chocolate color.
What do you think? Pics would be great :)

I want to ask, does the speed of your hair growth have to do with your metabolism?

I want to know this too - I doubt it, but it would explain a lot :D

Do long layers in long hair make it appear fuller? I always had abnormally, ridiculously thick hair and about 2/3 of it fell out due to stress last fall. It's fine/normal now, but I hate it, I'm so aware of the difference in feeling and look, I used to b*tch about how heavy it was, but now that it feels like there's nothing there, I just want to cry

Anyway, it's about waist length in the back, and I don't want to go shorter than just below my wings. My sister told me to get long layers and lowlights (I've never dyed/highlighted before) but after what she did to me during a cosmetics makeover, I'm not sure I trust her judgement on this.

I'm torn because I'm getting married in 6 months and want to look better and am up for a positive change, but am scared I'll make things worse and there won't be time to grow it out or fix it properly.

im still torn between going/staying a rich dark brown or go absolutly golden brown.....heres a pic of me ( sorry it is SO tacky..lol):p and a picture of a girl i know who has the hair color i want!

What do u guys think!?!?

arghhh i really like BOTH...but i seriously need a change. help:(

monkey siesta, I think you would look good with a blonde color like jessica stams. I'd keep the length and cut the same though, it suits you well and I think the color would be enough of a change.

dolce, I'd keep the dark brown. I think the golden brown would be too similar to the color of your skin and wouldnt compliment it well.

heej i need some hair help
my hair is 2 boring bluh. its getting longer, well long for me lol and its getting so boring.
So how do you think i should cut my hair? i love everything, dont mind cutting it really short so.

ingetjuh18 you need to credit the picture in post #856 or it will have to be taken down.

My hair is sorta curly as you can see from the pics, and I wanna do something with it .

If I cut it short (where the curls start) will it be straight or will it go curly?
Should I keep it long? And what color do you think i should go?
Thanks Heaps

CateWillis- You look so much like my younger sister that I did a triple take. Hair is very similar to hers as well so I think I have a good idea about how yours works. She wears hers in a bun all the time because she is a bit tomboyish, but the one time she let me play around with her hair, I could tell she loved it. Since you already have wavy thick hair it's quite easy. I moussed her hair and took thick sections and rolled them up with big fat rollers. spritz with hairspray, let it sit for a while, you could even sleep with them in, and then finger comb your hair, and it's just positively lovely. Wavy and piecey. It doesn't look as though you've ever dyed your hair, you should start out with a few subtle highlights if you'd like to experiment. I had the same color when I started, and I went from that sort of auburn, to highlights, to blonde, to red, now back to reddish auburn. If you cut it short, it won't be straight, the only reason it is straight on top is because the weight of your hair is weighing it down. You could have it layered, and have long layers put in the front, to frame your face.
Ingetjuh- I love the second picture! It's long enough so that you have a few options. Wavy, pin straight and piecey, and it's just pretty hot. You have nice cheekbones so I think it would frame your features well. I'm generally sick of obvious highlights so I'd say leave your hair dark, but you know yourself better than I do!
Dolce Sarah- You are far too pretty to do something like that to your hair. I really think you should leave it dark. As for your cut, you already have a widely coveted style. It's a good length, you have some waves going on...I like it. I understand needing a change though.
Fashionista- I think you have too much going on with the extensions. I think you're right to dye your hair a dark brown. I think a sharb angular bob (shorter in the back, longer in the front) would look great on you. When you style and dye it, it would look really clean and would be shiny. Also your glasses with the bob would be pretty hot.
Monkey Sista- Your hair has that beachy careless sexy thing going on, do you try it? Just curious, everyone wants to know how to achieve it. You seem ready for a change, go blonde or go dark brown. I think you'd look great either way. Maybe dark brown would be better, it would emphasize your eyes, a la Cameron Diaz. Not to mention shiny.
Pseudonym- Why not blunt bangs and a long bob? I already like your style, but since your hair is so healthy and shiny already, I think something definitive would look nice on you.
Pinksatin- Your hair is exquisite! I really want to see the deep brown! Will you post a picture?
