I hope this is the right place to make this post because I could not find a thread about adding volume to hair (search engine did not seem to work too well), but did not want to make a whole new thread in case it already was there.
I really need to know how to add volume to my hair because it always looks like I have been ironed on top of my head and nothing appears to work. I've tried teasing, hair drying, volumising shampoo, volumising conditioner (only on ends so it does not weigh it down), hair mousse, hair spray, hanging my head upside-down and messing up my hair and various combinations of all those things... Either they do not work or it lasts merely seconds before my hair returns to looking as if it was just run over by a steamroller.
My hair is thick, slightly wavy and stops just below my shoulders. I do not want to have to cut it any shorter than shoulder length, so please do not suggest I get my hair cut.
I cannot use rollers to give my hair a bit of volume because I always shampoo in the morning and if I shampoo at night I always wake up with dirty, greasy hair. I cannot wash it any less than once every day else my hair gets extremely greasy. It is not because of excess shampooing that my hair is this way. When I washed it every three days as a kid it was still looking disgusting by the end of the same day that I washed it.
I do not want to have to go to a lot of trouble in the morning for this (for example, going to the hairdresser's every single morning or doing something that takes several hours) so if you have any idea what I can try, please try to keep it quick and simple!
