Tall women vs short women ...

It's all in confidence, posture, and attitude, whether you're tall or short. Sometimes I envy the tall lanky girls but mostly what draws my attentions are the women who are so comfortable in their skin, no matter what height or size they are. Like Salma Hayek - she's like 5' but with her perfect posture and head held high she's more regal than many other women who are taller.

I'm 5'8" and sometimes still wish I'd kept going a bit more (but I'm 30 so I'm preeetttyy sure my growing days are over - at least the up ones!). When I was 5 years old I wanted to grow up to be "6 feet tall and a catwalk model." So close... and yet so far.

But overall it's pretty good. I've got a 33" inseam so I'm all legs with a short torso. Being busty on top of that makes certain outfits a bit, ehm, obscene at times (I love high waisted jeans but oh my god, I can't really wear them much because it's like "here are my legs, and then they stop at my boobs"). The one thing I envy are women with small ribcages and smaller busts... must be nice to be able to wear such beautifully draped clothing without looking like you're wearing a tent or a maternity shirt.

One time, when I was 15, a woman at a store said to my mom, "With a figure like that, your daughter should be in movies" and my mom said "With a figure like that, I can think of only one kind of movie she could be in." :D

agree with you, good posture make you look taller

In all the articles and books I've read, it seems that height almost equals talent in most careers in the fashion industry. Is this true (excluding modeling, of course you must be tall)?

I'm 5'8. Do you think I can get away with wearing 2 inch heels? Say they're the size of the Louboutin Bruges heel. What do you think?

Yeah, 5'8 is a good height lol, you can still wear super high heels and your not short without either

I wouldn't say so...Many pictures of designers next to models almost look like freak shows. Tom Ford, Azzedine Alaia, Zaldy, John Galliano, and even Ralph Lauren are a few short designers...to name a few.

5'4 here
i dont really mind my height..it's alright
my mom wishes me to be taller though

sometimes it kinda sucks being in the middle XD
since alot of guys either prefer short, tiny girls...and others prefer tall and lean girls

it would be nice if i have longer legs and shorter torso

i wear heels most of the time..so i think im fine

5'9 and loving it. Plus, I live in heels. I couldn't imagine what life is like down below....walking through crowds and not being able to see over people's heads, etc. Just couldn't imagine...

It's all about posture... That's true! If you are quite tall but have lousy posture it's not going to do you any favours.

I am 5"4' and I have a long torso and short legs in comparison... !!

I'm very short-5'6". It has led me to having almost no confidence because all my friends who used to be shorter had big growth spurts, my brother says I'm a failure and the runt of the family because he grew over a foot in the last 18 months, and not to mention my body is crazy-I unfortunately have curves that make me look even shorter. It doesn't help that my inseam is less than 28". I'm at the point where I will do anything (except start eating meat) to grow taller.

5'6" is in no way very short. The average height for a women in most countries is 5'3"/5'4"

5'6" is considered to be quite short in the area where I live, the average height is 5'7.5".

But it isn't short in the US. Your location says you're in Seattle. 5'6 is within the average range. On the taller side, actually.

Are there lots of Dutch people in your area?

There's a lot of European-I would presume a lot of Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, etc.

im 5"10 and like it but then hate it because the guy im with is only just taller than me and therefore i can wear heels around him.. i never wear heels at night but sometimes if i go shopping i will for fun =p but then what makes me feel better is that one of my friends sister is 19 or so and is about 5'11 and always wears massive heels out at night so that makes me feel better =p

I can't help but think "Ugh, that's so unfair!" when I hear all you lovely tall girls post your height :p What I would give...

i love my height. or whatever little height i have!
it's cute & the boys like it. ;]
rather than more height, i wouldn't mind changing my proportions.
longer legs please!

It's strange that as a male who is 189cm, I tend to be more sexually attracted to girls who are like 165cm-170cm.

Sometimes, with taller girls, you get this problem in which they look a bit strong and manly. I know a girl, for example, who is 180cm and she's totally gross because she's so big.

So that's that.

^ Yeah, esp. normal or lil over weight girls..
But the slim ones are very pretty. ^_^ Of course not 185+ ...
