I have that little blue stick-figure guy over my right pelvice bone. Haha, it was done by an ex-convict in Texas

Looks kinda crappy now and it reminds me of my evil ex-boyfriend so I want to get it changed into something else...don't know what though

They're all in "hidable" places and thus feel very private to me. I love them and think that they represent less of a permanent identity marker, and more of an identity signpost, reminding you of some past self that still informs your current self, though might not be immediately relevant.

Wow I just read that.....what you said is right, it really is. Maybe I shouldn't get my tatoo changed cause it does represent a life-changing event I went through. It does help to remind me of mistakes I made and how much stronger I am now.

I just got my Libertines tattoo behind my left year done this weekend. I wanted it to be in between meeting Pete and Carl which it was because I met Carl yesterday. Anyway it says Albion sails on course... It had to be behind my left year because it is a musical reference. I think the 'on' is a bit lower than it should be but I dont know if the wonkiness is appropriate for such a destructive band, or if I should add something so there is an optical illusion that it is straight? Hmm. Anyway it is fairly hidden which is good also. Two tattoos down and so many more ideas!! I wanted a quote from Gerald Manley Hopkins on my arm (he is one of my favourite poets) but then all my tattoos will be words. I really think my next one should be an image.

Oh and LifeNatureLove, I like your reasons for getting your tattoo. It seems like a beautiful idea. However, I think waiting is a good idea. My parents hate tattoos too but I basically said, I am not lying to you, I am getting it done and that is that. I think I am the sort of daughter that made my parents give up a long time ago. I am not easily controlled.

i remember that my parents were not too pleased of me getting a tattoo, but i convinced them that i would take a tattoo that i would not regret. well i think that they are not happy about it after all this time (i've had one for a year now) but since its on my wrist its not very seen.. and they did not have lots of saying in it since i paid it myself and i'm 18

now i'm considering two other tattoos that i would take next fall. i have this sketch of fairywings, witch i'm going to take on my upper back and then i was thinking a small picture to my neck, almost to the hairline. i'm not yet sure what that picture is going to be, but i want it to be something that describes me as a person

I won't tell my parents until I'm in my thirties

uh, as far as tattos go, ive desiged some but ive never goten them doen, i change my mind too damn much. My favorite is my husbands, its a dragon about 8" long on his right shoulder lade- i designed it for a couple of reasons, he LOVES dragons,and i think hes like one in many ways, mainly his personality, and because hes that magical part of my life. as far as me, i dont like tattoos on women-where i live, all i see are girls with their boyfriends tattos marked all over their necks-, and to be honest, to me that is so trashy looking.
When im "craving" a tattoo, ill get a henna one, right now i have wings on my shoulder blades (my honey does them for me ). A tattoos somehting that ive seriously considered, but im not gonna take the dive till im 200% sure that this is what i want and it has to be very special to me...

I forgot to tell my story about them when I posted the pics.

The Nirvana-tatto speaks for itself, I guess. It's because Nirvana is my fave band of all time.

And the star-tattoo...well, one day my best friend and I was skipping school, and we was just around everywhere in the city and stuff, and we thought we wanted to be rebellious, so we took a star tatto both of us, the same tattoo. The only difference is that mine is behind my left ear, and her tatto is behind her right ear.

i got my neck done 2 years ago, i found it to be a really good place because i can hide it easily for work or tie my hair up and show it off, i actually forgot i had it till i saw this thread!
as for pain factor, didn't hurt much either, i went numb after 5 mins.
my mum flipped out when she saw it and couldn't believe i tattooed my neck out of all places hahaha.

I really want a tattoo. I want mine to say "the good ship albion" or "arcadia".
But if I want it to be done properly I am afraid I will have to wait a few years. My parents hate tattoos too! They dont want me to get it done, but one day i will.... hehe. star tats must be friendship tats b/c my best friend and I have them too....
we got them b/c I was too chicken to do anything bigger... it hurts

but I love it b/c it reminds me of our friendship...
