Tattoos

well me and my driver teacher had a conversation about tattoos. he said his wife has one which needed to be redone after a couple of year (probably 20, i would guess). is that true that you have to redo it, or it will look ugly and kinda fade away?

and also is someone here who is really good in imaging and/or drawing? i would love t get tiny stars (and maybe hearts, but mean thing will be stars and maybe one skull) around my hipbone area. has someone a idea how that could look like?

^^ my ex fella plaid rugby professionally.. so he played it alot ... and he was constnatly knocking his sholders so his tattoo actually practically diasapered in some parts so its all patchy .. he has to get it redone every few years or so.

I dont like the majority of tattoos my friend has one on his chest which he designed, which looks good. I wouldnt ever have a tattoo, i get bored of things too quickly, and i know i would end up not liking it.

I'm with you. Who could ever be that committed?

I'm so torn when it comes to tattoos. On the one hand it seems like a really artistic way to express yourself and I'm always tempted. I love the blazing heart symbol that they have in Romeo and Juliet and also Kathleen Hanna's giant black heart on her arm. But then I also think that the human body without anything on it is more beautiful than any drawing or symbol. I think I'd be best not to get a tattoo. I already freak out when I dye my hair a weird colour and can't change that.

If going for anything with white in it, you should make sure the artist is experienced in working with this colour as it can turn yellow or even pink in time.

It's do-able. Obviously you have to consider skin tone and so on, especially if you want your tattoo predominantly white. This one worked quite well. Sorry it's not a better pic: bit hard to photograph your own shoulder! The white bit has kept its colour without turning yellow or cream.

wow thats so cute. Yeah I like the thought of a tattoo in white ink only but yeah it would be hard to make it look good.

i asked about white tattoos to a few artists and all of them gave me similar answers: white ink is used in most of the cases with other colors to lighten certain places, or as a filling color. if you were to get a tattoo in white ink, it'll fade with time or even turn yellow-ish.
but then i see people with white ink tattoos (Lindsay Lohan, Jack Osbourne), and wonder ..who has the right answer?

i was thinking about this the other day and while alot of people wont commint to tattoos for alot of reasons growing old, hating it/regreting it etc.

alot of people still have children which is a greater commitment and overall harder to look after and they are for life.

i know a stupid comparison but something to think about:lol:

my 2nd tattoo, still fresh and healing (left forearm). I'm already designing my 3rd for next year.

^would you mind, designing me a star tattoo for my hips?

I have a white tattoo and it's still white. It will turn pink sometimes when I get sunburned but other than that it stays it's true color.

I remember one of our colour sergeants returning from a drunken leave with some nice new tattoos: to his jump wings, he had added his battalion drop zone flash (a patch worn on parachutists' jump smocks identifying the unit) and his three stripes and crown rank badge. How proud he was...until we asked what he would do with the stripes and crown when promoted to sergeant-major. Moral: think ahead when you get a tattoo. Your mother's name is fine but don't put girlfriends - or boyfriends' - names, unless you make a joke of it and put a line through each one as you start a new relationship.

darkskinee nice tattoo, the design is really original, and though the place isn't, it still is one of my favouriyes parts of the body to get a tattoo :flower:

brand spanking new feather tattoo. surprisingly not all that painful, considering there is such little padding in the area. obviously, it's still quite dark, but i'm already in love with it:
