Tattoos

last week my boyfriend continued a tattoo he had gotten a few months ago. i went with him, and while i felt like it was time for my 'new' tattoo (meaning, it was time to get my tribal tattoo covered up). i've had the idea of getting it covered for a long time now, and i think i'm finally ready to start looking for inspirational pieces and really going through the whole thing. i'm excited! :woot:

bf's tattoo: a marker. he added wings and a crown, and a few cloud-ish stuff. if you guys wanna see it, i'll try to post pics (before and after) :flower:

does anyone know what this tattoo say or the full version?
I don't speak Hebrew but I can read it a little bit. THe beginning reading from top down looks like it says "Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li" which means "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine". Then I don't know and can't really see what the rest is but someone who is a native reader/speaker could probably tell you. It's kind of a common (but no less meaningful) phrase to see on jewelry etc.

I have a tattoo that has some hebrew writing in it too. Mine says "Y'varechechah adonai v'yishmarecha" which is "may you bless god and may he keep you" or "may god bless you and keep you".

Then I thought about getting it going down either the inner or outer side of one of my feet, going from toe towards ankle. What do you think about that? Do that many tattooing places have a problem with doing feet? And if so, what are the reasons for that?
I've never heard of tattoo artists having issues with that (unless they hate feet as much as I do. :p), but keep in mind the foot is supposed to be one of the worst places to get a tattoo, pain-wise.

Does anyone know where I can find, or even if you guys know, any info on covering up a tattoo with another? I have a word (not a name- thankfully!) on my wrist that I'm looking to cover or replace.

Every tattoo artist I have ever met will try to talk you out of getting a foot tattoo...
or at least give you all the facts.:flower:

It is one of the most painful spots and the skin is very thin so the color doesn't hold well and fades quickly so you may need to go through all the pain again to get it touched up.:(

^ Thanks for explaining. I certainly wouldn't want to get one there if I'd have to get it touched up more often!

i'm trying to get one of my tattoos covered too, and when i was talking to a tattoo artist the other day, he told me that the best thing for cover-ups is that you find a design that "fits" your old tattoo ..meaning that the new design's lines can be placed on top of the tattoo's lines (i hope you get what i mean :p)
anyways, the guy who always does my tattoos told me to start thinking about what i wanted, then go talk to him to see if it was possible design-wise ;)

this is my bf's tattoo, the one i was talking about on my previous post

Yeah, that's what I figured- it only makes sense  I'm thinking of a cross because the top can fit over the first letter. I really want a sun or symbol but there isn't enough room for the rays, unless it went into my hand and tha twouldn't look right at all!
However, I am in recovery for an eating disorder and batteling depression so I've been paying close attention to symbols of recovery, inner peace, etc.

Mine is just a small star on my left ankle. I like it so much, it's cute and meaningful to me. I also got it done at a really great place which was a plus, because I was nervous, as it was my first one.

brand spanking new feather tattoo. surprisingly not all that painful, considering there is such little padding in the area. obviously, it's still quite dark, but i'm already in love with it:

I LOVE THAT FEATHER TATTOO!! I have seen a feather tattoo similar to that one on a model but I dont know who..

you're too sweet, partycrasher. i'm a bit in love with it myself.

and, you might be thinking of erin wasson - who has a feather in pretty much the same location, just a bit thinner & turned the other direction; i truly hadn't a clue until another TFSer pointed it out after my original post!:
