Tattoos

Forearm and neck are two places that you're not supposed to get if you aren't a fully tattooed person.
Haha those are the 2 places I have mine (except inner wrist rather than on top of my forearm) and I only have one other aside from those lol

^I wonder what the reason is? I think neck is a good place for someone with only a few tattoos, cause it's discreet

^ Yeah my neck tatt only shows when my hair's up and I like the location, it's very centered on the back of my neck. I have NO idea how I decided to get it there I just went to bed the night before I went to the parlor and was like "...I'm gonna get it on my neck!" lol (I get most of my brilliant/weird ideas at 4am lol) brisk decision that I love having made :D In the future I'm going to try to keep the rest that I get more hidden, I think they're going to be on my lower back like going along it. The ones that I have now are separate from the others for a reason and I really wanted these 3 to be more visible. If I was a guy I'd totally have sleeves and I know a lot of women do too, but I'm not the type of girl that that would work for

My tattoo was a brisk decision too, gotta love those!! And what is the one on your neck? Just curious! I've seen lots of simple designs that I love..

^ It's Isidore Ducasse (Lautréamont) a poet from the 1800's that I adore more than anything:

If you are not all covered in tattoos, yes it is. Forearm and neck are two places that you're not supposed to get if you aren't a fully tattooed person.

Can you clarify what you mean by "not supposed to get" with those places? I'm just curious because I have one on my neck...it's my first tattoo and I don't plan on getting any more.

I keep meaning to post a picture of mine...it's a very simple black outline of two hearts intertwined. It's weird...I got mine when I was 16 (almost two years ago) and I don't regret it...but I don't actually like the idea of tattoos and I'm very picky when it comes to them. I don't like any color or large tattoos.

I have one in my ribs, actually in both sides!

I have never heard that rule.

I have always wanted to ask this question so I would love to hear some feedback. I have been very intrigued by the late 1800's/early 1900's of France(hint my SN). So I have thought of getting a cabaret dancer on my arm.If I were to do it in black and white and draw it myself. My question is mainly to women. Do you find this insulting or tacky?

personally i don't find it insulting or tacky
i actually think it's a great idea for a tattoo!

Nope, absolutely not. I actually quite like the idea!

Me too! And I only have one as well. I'm not planning on getting anymore though I'm tempted.. I just want mine to be something I'll love forever.

not at all, ive always thought a tattoo isnt tacky by itself, its the person who has it that makes it tacky or not. :flower: go ahead and show us

I doubt it will look tacky at all. Pin-up tattoos have been around forever and are considered classics, a cabaret dancer would have a similar feel to it.
I don't think many women would consider it tacky or anything, I actually know a lot of women who have pin-ups themselves (myself included)

Also, I'm not sure who wrote that only people already covered in tattoos should be the only ones to get their forearms and neck done as a rule? There's no rule about that. My first tattoo was on my forearm.
Did you mean on the side of your neck/throat area? I can sort of see what you mean by that one, it does sometimes look strange when someone gets their hands or throat tattooed when they have no other tattoos, but to each their own I suppose.

I tried sketching it but I am not very good and drawing from small to big so i guess I will have to explain to the tattoo artist but here is basically what I want but with probably a different corset with black fishnets and no mustache. or necklace. Also if there are any artistic folk who think they might want to help me draw this out that would be so awesome.

^that is such a cool idea for a tattoo!
I'd suggest just finding an artist in your area that is good at pin-ups or portraits, depending on the style you want. I think most artists would be stoked on doing something cool like this. They would be able to really run with something like this and draw you up something great!

do you want her in that position?

just wondering as i could try sketching it out for you ^_^

I really want to get a mermaid twisting up my forearm but I can't find any good designs. Nothing crude or anything, but one you'd expect to see in the Illiad or maybe even a selkie.

I actually really like the one on the Starbucks Anniversary coffee blend poster, but that would be lame, haha. Getting a Starbucks siren, I'd never live it down.
