I am currently 15 years old and I want to experiment with high heels! I'm usually just a comfort-oriented person, but I want to make my venture into the fashion: pain = beauty-world. I was wondering what type of high heels would look good? I don't want a really mature look, just something cute, hot and chic. Any recommendations? I have small-ish feet (about size 5.5) but they're not very skinny feet, regular ankles, and pretty muscular calves (thick-ish). Help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

To get started in heels, I suggest you work your way up - start off w/ a kitten heel. As your feet get used to the heels and you get older, maybe add an inch or two

Why not start out with a wedge? I often find them more comfortable.. plus they don't look too "mature" ifyou can find a good pair

Hmm...

Thanks!

But the thing is, I've always found wedges a little too clunky for my tastes...Or is it just because I look at not very good wedges? :p

My legs are already chunky enough...ahahaha.

I was thinking more like some cute summer espadrilles or something...

Anyways, the older you get.. the higher the heel you can wear... your legs will look less "chunky".

But I'd also suggest kitten heels like mentioned above...

I second the wedge idea - a nice espadrille, maybe? They're summery and fun and a good way to work your way up to a 5" Versace snakeskin heel. :)

These would be cute for a 15 year old.. low heels

Ooh! I like the ones on the top! Who are they by?

As for the espadrilles idea - I like them more, now that I've looked at more pictures! The thing is though, they all have ties around the ankles, and I was told that straps across my ankles wouldn't look good with my calves? (I also have short legs) Something about how a clean shoe with nothing across the front of the foot to distract or break the line of leg?

You guys are great! Thank you so much!

start off LOW. you gots plenty of time to work up. nothing uglier and more frightening than a teenybopper in 4 inch stilettos...

Get a thin wedge that tapers towards the heel. Those aren't clunky and are quite elegant, imo. I personally do not like stilettos on teenagers unless they're more matured looking.

Oh, and I second the kitten heel suggestion.

I would personally suggest you start with kitten heels as a few others suggested. I think once you've mastered walking in those, then move higher.:flower:

I really love these nine west ones.. but I think the heel might be a bit high

Nine West...

If you like the espadrilles idea.. the last ones from the above post would work.. no ankle ties.. the heel is also very low. They are on urbn.com

I'm 16 and favor 3-4 inch heels... but I started out with kitten heels at 14 and then gradually they got more comfy and I went higher... but I never never wear heels w/ a short skirt...

^^ I like those heels.

Btw, have you any idea where to find nice close-toed wedges?

Here are some cute ones...

I own these... very low heel.. very cute with jeans or skirts:

I found a few on zappos.com

My suggestion is this, go Vintage!

The best shoes are found on thrift stores and vintage stores, women back in the days used to have small feet, so you will be able to fit in that kind of shoe... little pumps w/ the kitten heel and almond toe, strappy sandals with the mini heel...it's cute, very pixie, and it's better than shoes that look liek you're trying too hard...

This is something I have in mind

my first heels were a wedge...
i support that idea...
and agree that you just need to look for one that tapers a bit or it does tend to look chunky...
which only works of you are very tall and stick thin..

it's the perfect time for you to start...
since wedges are all the rage and so easy to find in many styles...
