Love that editorial with Christy:heart: Thanks ASF:flower:
Great pics for H&M too.
A little disppointed with the Pirelli pics tbh:( some great models involved but the Pirelli Calendar is always associated with being quite classy......classy these pics are not. I have nothing against Terry, so don't jump all over me, but 'classy' is not a word associated with the style of work he normally showcases and I am a huge Pirelli fan and really think they made the wrong choice of lensman this time.
I will still do everything I can to get hold of a copy.

^agree, those who say that cant read art

Well, what is art and what isn't is based on opinion as far as I know, so I'm not sure I understand what you mean. There is nothing creative about pretending to **** a sheep. Also, how do you know the photo was a 'joke'?

Daveh, since when was bestiality humorous?

first of all his works has never been art and he has nt ever set himself up as an artist, its advertising.
yes, youre right its not refined humour (its actuallyscatological jokes), so ppl with delicate spiritual organisation cant read it. i still cant understand one thing: why go onto thread where everyone love his works and cast pearls before swine? you wont get understanding here eitherway. useless

There is a difference between coming into a thread to express your hatred for someone you simply do not like (example: I loath lady gaga - i dont go to her thread), and someone you think degrades your very being as a human.

Just because I do not like someone, doesn't mean you have more of a right to comment on a thread than I do. I wouldn't be here if I hated him for whatever else reason - I hate what he stands for and what he makes our sex look like.

It's a little silly to think people with strong views on decency can't actually ~read~ his work. What do you think we are doing? Maybe it's all of you he has fooled thinking there is a funnier and classier meaning behind his photos when in actuality he's making a pair of breasts a sexual object.

I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to the person who said that "I can't read art", and judging by that statement I assumed that he was implying that Terry's work is art. Secondly, bestiality has nothing to do with scatology so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. What do "people with delicate spiritual organizations" have to do with anything? And that "why post in someone's thread if you don't like them" argument is really stupid, it's like asking "why post on a forum if you have an opinion?".

i think the thing to do here now might just be to agree to disagree...

obviously a lot of people have strong feelings about terry and his work, but there is no need to attack each other...

please keep it civil... thanks

yeah, no kidding!

yikes

that's the type of p*rno terry richardson that i'm not into.... :ermm:

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. It really is the main reason I always have this automatic reservation about any new shoot of his that is featured somewhere.

I have to say I'm not really a fan of Terry in general, but I really had to come here to commend his (surprisingly?) tasteful H&M Winter 2009 shoot in #1264-1265. It's like an upscale Christmas party for the cast of The Beautiful Life. Hated that show, but love this shoot.

i really like his pics for fashion mags. they're different and refreshing most of the time.

well regarding his other projects sometimes i'm like :blink: sometimes :D and sometimes :yuk: but his pics always provoke some feeling whether positive or negative and that's good. they aren't boring

i ordered his book "Terryworld" and knew almost nothing about his regular work
when i skimmed through the book for the first time i was in shock and thought "well, you just wasted your money", but after looking at the pics a few times i started to appreciate his work, though there some photos i'll always find disgusting

OMG! I was going through Terry's photos and I just noticed this photo of Jim Carroll and I had no idea he had even died! I'm so heartbroken! I met him a few times when i was a teenager and he was always really sweet to me. What a tragic loss!

I also had no idea Terry took this picture so that's even cooler to know.

I love Terry even with all his crazy and brazen photos. And I agree with a former commenter that he wouldn't have repeat models if he was so unprofessional. His photography is suggestive & "naughty", but let's take a look at the whole fashion world here if we are going to critisize. The fashion industry markets sex all the time! Terry just has the models looking cheaper instead of all dolled up in lots of Gucci & makeup.:p

As far as Terry's vulgarity in his photography, isn't he just the male version of Ellen von Unwerth? LOL. :p

For me he's definitely not. Ellen is still far more subtle in her works, while Terry is more harsh and literall. Love them both, though ^_^

^^i don't know if i would characterize ellen as subtle :p

i would agree that she's not as "out there" as terry can be though

Well, subtle may not seem a good word indeed, but you got my point more or less :p

I think both Ellen von Unwerth & Terry can be what some would call 'vulgar'. In one of my Ellen von Unwerth books there's a picture of a guy with his penis out and he's got a total hard on. I don't know how much more blatant than that you can be.

Ellen doesn't have her models simulate sex acts quite as much as Terry but she certainly suggests sex a lot. Just look at her 'Revenge' work. She also has her models in more makeup and her work doesn't seem quite as raunchy, as Terry's work.

To me Ellen seems a little softer. She does use those soft colors in the background and usually has the models wearing bright pink or red lipstick. She's more glamourous than Terry.

Terry doesn't usually have his models in much makeup and his photography to me is a little more polaroid-style.

I think it ultimatly depends on someone's moral as to how they are going to see any photographer's work.

For me, I am comfortable with sex and seeing it in different artistic ways. I think a lot of Ellen & Terry's work is naughty and funny.

And, i do have to say I respect them for 'putting it' all out there. It's almost refreshing to have non-sensored photos to look at.

I enjoy looking at some of the foreign magazines because they don't sensor their magazines nearly as much as here in the US.

yeah I too found out well after the fact that Jim Carroll had died. Infact just 2 weeks ago around 10pm I was reading on-line the NY times obit on Jim and it mentioned Patti Smith and as only could happen in NYC, as I was waiting for the light to change to cross the street- there was Patti Smith waiting as well. Told of just reading Jim's obit and she said immediately " he was such an angel" we chatted a bit more and off we went

it's pretty tongue-in-cheek... y'all don't get it. doesn't mean he is a perv/sexist. if he was, he wouldn't be so popular.... i think the models know what they're getting into when they agree to work with him... and it's not like he only works with them once and then they say 'never again ' ... it seems to be quite the opposite... do girls like Eniko and Abbey Lee need the extra exposure of Pirelli? not really. they've both worked with Terry multiple times and they don't seem to feel uncomfortable, so why should you? they're the ones who work with him, so I think they know him a bit better than you people on the internet do.

you make some good points about the girls not just working with him once.

I thought that maybe the girls did feel degraded (if not exploited as they did make some good $ and did know what was to be expected) perhaps some like the raunchiness of the shoots- but I bet many feel pretty used and cheap afterwards- I wonder how Catherine McNeil feels after basically shooting p*rn - in the milk bath shot?

Abbey Lee's shots seem pretty tame- though for some reason I was caught off guard to see her in the flesh after seeing her dad minding her backstage at NY fashion week.

so after all is said and done- I bet there are many many models who say "never again, never again" after shooting with Terry and I wish I could hear their story.

I do like his work.

I think people fail to realize when a line has been crossed.
Terry is hiding behind an "artistic" sense of self in these photos. It's a veil.

Look at how ads are banned. Would you say sexist ads are funny and naughty for women?
Men cannot fathom what it feels like to be objectified to the extend women have and therefore will see nothing wrong with these photos.
