I decided to google him one day and see some of his images because I'd always thought he was talentless but just wanted to clarify. And all I can say is, what a hack. Too bad he doesn't take pics of Terry fellating Terry because that's essentially what he's doing. It's one big act of self-love on his part. Look at me getting a hand job! Look at me having sex! I'm sorry but it's disgusting and NOT art. More like "egocentric soft-p*rno" in the words of CSS.

BTW, I love that song Art b*tch, because it's sooo true!

^Oh God, I did the same thing the other day. :ninja: A picture of you taking a pictue of some topless girl with her hand on your stuff and your 'babies' all over her is not cute at all. Man, I'm sick of his face now. But, he has made some beautiful stuff. That "American the Beautiful" ed with Lily was too gorgeous, and I think he did the Gucci S/S 2002 ads with Rie and I love that campaign.:heart:

I personally don't find his "non p*rno" work all that impressive. He may have done a few nice things, but the overwhelming majority of his work IMO has been amateur-ish. Most of it could've been shot by any random person on the street with a disposable camera. I've taken plenty of shoddy portraits with a disposable, am I the next great fashion photographer and an amazing artist? :woot::woot::lol:

I think calling him an artist is an insult to every true artist that has ever lived :p ^_^

I've said it before in this thread ... but to differnt people ... but forgive me for repeating myself.

Richardson is known to have popularized the "Snapshot Aesthetic" style of shooting ... so everything looks like it was done with a point and shoot camera (actually, most of it was). After he got famous for doing this ... lots and lots of copy cats were doing this style of shooting, too. I think that Nylon Magazine have a lot of images like that ... that's what makes it look young and edgy.

It's not my thing ... I don't really like it ... but it is considered a credible style of shooting fashion. Once which will probably go out of popularity soon, because it's just not pretty.

I know about his style, technique, etc, I just DON'T think it's credible. I'm by no means a fan of pretty girls in pretty dresses taking pretty pictures. I love the counter culture and people who are willing to push boundaries in an intelligent and provacative way. The thing is, Terry Richardson's work is not only unattractive but also unintelligent and thoughtless.

It's the Terry Richardson Show, I don't think he has some sort of grand vision. Everyone tries to analyze everything but sometimes p*rn is just p*rn you know? Sometimes a man is just a man getting a hand job on camera, and I don't think people should waste time time trying to explain how his semen carries some deep, provacative message.

In regards to Terry Richardson's work.
The pictures most have seen are his raunchy pictures, because that's what comes up first when people Google him or just talk about him general. But, he has done some other amazing work for magazines.

I honestly like his work. I also like his edgy pictures - to an extent, of course though.

-- thank you for the APC pictures.

When I was watching the Belvedere spot, it reminded me very much of Fiona Apples' "Criminal " music video. After doing a search, I found out the commercial was Dp'ed by Harris Savides who was the cinematographer for the criminal video back in 97'.
