Pretty sure this is my shell, except mine is a darker grey, and the silk and knit match more closely I think ... it's really well made and cut ... I'm impressed. And plenty of room for curves, which is most welcome ...

This is the color of my shell ...

I've also ordered this red cardigan ...

^ Thanks :) It's coming from the Beverly Hills store, which for some reason I find amusing :p

Uff... it's so hard for me not to buy too much... I try really hard to pick only essential pieces...but I still buy 2-3 per month! At least they are good quality.

In the next 3,4 months I try to stick to finding:

- 2 very good quality long Ts or Tunics to wear with my beautiful new Anthropologie belts
- Perfectly fitted black pants
- statement skirt
- light grey blazer
- Marc Jacobs bag
- black high heels

^ I noticed something when getting the trousers above tailored ... you need to make sure they're pinned up at the hems before making any other changes, because the excess length can make them look weird elsewhere. It really pays to find a brand that fits you well--you can buy it over and over again.

Not sure what kind of black heels you're looking for, but the Jimmy Choo Glaciers I got (on sale) about 2.5 years ago have turned out to be a very good buy. Just got the heel caps replaced recently ...

^ PS These are the same shoes Michelle Obama wore to the inauguration in a different color. When someone complimented them a few months ago I mentioned this fact. She said, "That heifer! Who cares what she wears!" Apparently my look on hearing that was enough to freeze fire at 50 feet

Good job!

By the way, I love that picture of the red cardigan you posted....

Found a perfect little blazer that's light and looks so feminine... it's made of beige lace. I love it.

^ So glad you love it! And I love the way you had a grey blazer on your list, but got beige ... it's a neutral too. It's great to have a list, but then you have to be flexible. I'm great at visualizing things that don't exist  That's all fine if you can make patterns and sew ... :innocent: Otherwise you have to interact with retail reality.

Here's my piece #5 ... these grosgrain espadrilles, except black. Longtime readers of this thread may recall the tragedy that befell a former pair of espadrilles with a black grosgrain tie ... these, I think will be even better. I have ordered these ... assume they'll fit fine. They come in whole sizes only, and they're holding the other size for me so I can be sure of the fit.

^the Lanvin espadrilles are so beautiful. Saw them this week-end and couldn't get my eyes and hands off them.

nordstrom

^ Oh good! I haven't seen them in person yet. I've been told now they are actually charcoal rather than black. (They also come in ballet rose and orange.) Barney's is already sold out of my size (between two different SAs they managed to bounce my order around till the shoes were no longer available) ... I ordered two sizes from Nordstrom's to be sure of getting the right one! Not even March and already things are selling out ... it's insane. I think the stores are still ordering very small quantities, and demand is picking up.

Did you try them on? How did they run?

Here's a pic that shows the color properly ...

Cute espadrilles!

All my heels are languishing in my closet because I work a job where I'm on my feet all day long, walking around. And then after work, I'm too tired to dress up and go out! So there they sit, day in and day out.

On the plus side, I'm getting a lot of use out of my ballet flats and Frye oxfords and Frye boots..........

I didn't dare trying them on! Too scared I wouldn't be able to leave them at the store. Usually Lanvin runs true to size for me.

Thanks for the karma! :flower:

^ Funny ;)

The Marni sweater in the next size fit great ... but the cargos are going back. When I wore them for several hours, the linen stretched, and the fit was no longer flattering :ninja: So back they go, and I can have one more piece ;) I really liked them otherwise, great color, cut, details, etc., so I'm kinda sad :(

So is anybody else starting to gather their spring wardrobe? We are starting to have warmer weather, interspersed with colder days ...

Hi!

For this spring I've already bought black 7/8 trousers and two black v-neck short sleeve linen t-shirts.
I'm still looking for a red blazer and some more t-shirts (white, grey, red, pink or purple, but it seems difficult to find v-necks this spring)
and perhaps new red ballerinas and grey man-ish shoes, too.

Let's see what I find to wear after all this snow... Hopefully spring is soon here!

-Jutta-

Jutta, the linen Ts sound great! For some reason, linen knits are hard to come by in the US. I think they're beautiful, and I also like the way linen puts a different twist on things ...

Thanks, BonjourTristesse :flower: Hope the black jeans work out well ... I find them so useful!

I've had the same experience with linen trousers--they fit great for a few hours, and then they get radically baggy in all the wrong places  If you launder them and dry them, they shrink right back up, but again only for an hour or two. And don't get me started on the wrinkles! Which is a pity, because they feel soooooo nice!

Hello all!

I've enjoyed reading through most of this thread, and decided I'd like to join in!

I love having a small wardrobe, and I've just about made up my mind what I'll be wanting for Spring and Summer. I sew many of my own clothes, so I don't need much.

The list is as follows:

Navy-and-white dress with matching jacket (already cut out and ready to sew!)
Tall camel wedge sandals
Knee-length white pleated skirt (I may have to make this, if I can find a heavy enough cotton/silk blend)
Camel belt
A pixie haircut (I like to get a good haircut, so this is usually quite an expense. Therefore, it goes under 'wardrobe.')

Like I said, I sew a lot, so the things I buy are accessories. I also dress almost exclusively in schemes of navy and red, or peachy pink and kelly green in the spring/summer. White is quite a departure for me!

It's good to get this all sorted out and written down!
