The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #4

I've already said this on your Pinterest, but I love Vans. I've had three pairs in three different models over the past... seven? years, and they were all super comfortable. They have several models too, and many in "fashion" colours/patterns. Maybe some model will appeal to you. I doubt they're very eco-friendly, however...

I agree with the vans, converse would work too but they definitely aren't Eco-friendly :/ Or maybe you could take a look at asics shoes or Nike which aren't Eco friendly either..
I was really into high top sneakers as well, I think they look really good with several outfits on top of being really comfortable. They come in so many colours & shapes as well and there is something for every budget !

As for cleaning out my closet: I think it comes with the fact that I realised I really did not care about all the stuff I brought in the past... As soon as I got over "caring", it just got easier and easier. So now it really is all about functionality and basics need. Less about sentimental/emotional attachment. I am no longer interesting in buying either because there is no immediate need. I still have enough clothes to dress everyday , I don't need more. Although I wish this dress thing was sorted as I have other weddings in June and July now and I was hoping to wear the same dress :lol:

Now the spring finally is warming up I find I get to wear my denim jacket and my suede summerjacket that I bought (or was given, in the case of the suede jacket) this winter. It brings so much life to be able to wear a new jacket with everything that it feels like my entire wardrobe is refreshed! ^_^

twistelette About the ecofriendly shoes, if I remembered correct you live in Utrecht right? There's a store there that specializes in eco-friendly clothing it's called Nukhiva. I've never been there, but maybe they have some eco-friendly shoes?

thanks, Fewormany! I like Nukhiva a lot - but the last time I was there, they didn't have any sneakers/shoes that appealed to me. Maybe they have some new stock, I was planning on going there tomorrow. And I totally get what you're saying about a 'new' jacket (or an old one coming out of storage/hibernation) freshening up the way you feel about your clothes.

Thanks for sharing the joy with me, ladies! :flower: We have an anniversary tomorrow but I doubt that I will receive them to wear out to dinner.

Twistelette, if you are not a sneakers person (neither am I), maybe you should think about some kind of brogues that are more casual. Softer, rather than stiff leather.

I like Merrells or similar for walking shoes ... some of them have been quite presentable, like a black Mary Jane slide.

My comfortably yet semi-dressy shoes are the ACNE pistol boot (I can wear those for entire days without having sore feet) and a pair of green patent brogues from Costume National.

But I can not deny that fact that my sneakers are the best shoes for long walks. I think the sport brands make the best sneakers since that are what they specialize in doing. I know many of them are sporty but I like the nike blazer sneak. It is not too sporty especiallty not if you pick the black suede version or the woven one :smile:

OMG, I can't believe I got the shoes today, they were sent yesterday evening. :woot: Fits like a glove. ^_^

As for the cleaning out of my closet. It continues.. I was in NYC and gave a bunch of stuff to my friends, including most of my unworn shoes. And now I am back and I am still cleaning. I have around 25 pieces excluding lingerie now. My fiancé says I am obsessed and should stop before I have nothing to wear :ninja: But I love having almost nothing, I feel better and freer. On top of that I truly wear my clothes now and I love all the combination I managed to do. Hope to stop at 20 pieces.

I also love working with fewer clothes. I made a set in Polyvore which shows basically which 15 items (not the exact items, but look-a-likes) constitute my wardrobe November through April (the Norwegian winter:shock:). This excludes lingerie, of course. (T-shirts/tank tops are lingerie in my opinion. I certainly feel like I am wearing lingerie if I go out in them. I feel like I am nothing but a pair of boobs when I wear a tank top...:innocent:)

I do occasionally wear other clothes, but these are the ones I keep returning too when I just want to look good, and not just "try something else" for the sake of it.

I could add this to the wardrobe combination thread, because I have basically just been wearing every possible different combination of these outfits.

Next season I hope to add to my winter wardrobe:
- A better quality wool jacket
- A black fitted sweater by Belle Freud.
Also, I will soon have my new Balenciaga handbag:brows::buzz:

I think I have mentioned earlier that I don't want to invest in pieces that I wouldn't be able to get much wear out of after university. My uni class visited a successful law firm yesterday and one of the women there was wearing Acne Pistol Boots:smile: Apparently the dress code is more casual in my country than I thought.

Jinadaze: Yay about the shoes:woot:

Apparently I can't count. There are 16 pieces in that Polyvore set.

The yellow Acne dress is now on its way back. It really is easy to send back things from NAP, I only called DHL, told them when to come, signed the form - that's it. I didn't even need tape for the parcel.

Regarding the blouse: do you think something in a very light, nearly pastel mint shade could work with my teals and yellows and neutrals? My other option is a blouse with a print in eggshell/brown. I guess that always works.

Jina: did the shoes arrive yet?

I do too. :smile: I don't do colours often :D, but love the mint shade, it's so ... refreshing. It looks great with neutrals too.

Check out the previous page, RedandNavy. :wink: I didn't wear them yet though, but hopefully they would be comfortable for short walks too. Yesterday I decided to go with the brogues which was a clever decision since we walked a lot.
Oh, and have to say that the straps aren't so electric blue as pictured (more purple blueish) but I don't mind.

Not sure if mint green will work with teal ... with yellow I know it does as that is my mother's kitchen color scheme :wink: She has a yellow that is equal in value to the green (i.e., also pastel).

If you're not perfectly happy with either blouse, there are & will be more :wink:

Am wearing my new white T for the first time today, with my blue knit skirt & new b/w sandals. The T is very comfortable, and the sandals lots of fun. They are the kind of shoes that people stop you to talk about :wink:

Well, the mint green blouse apparently just got sold out... Argh. Well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I have some time to decide anyway - it will be my May purchase so no hurries. If the ultimate blouse turns up before that I will get it but otherwise... no hurries.

Btw, this week was great because I finally got to wear my denim jacket (it wasn't warm enough before). It feels great! I feel five years younger when wearing it since it's a bit less formal than many things I own :blush:

ugh, I just typed a long answer, and then my browser ate my post... boo. anyway, I wanted to say: yay ta-ta for those shoes, and yay R&N for that jacket! what you say is exactly what I like about it, it's cool and sophisticated at the same time, sort of agelessly cool, and that makes it really young. as for me, I got some sneakers today! I finally decided on navy Adidas with white stripes and a hot pink detail at the 'opening' of the shoe (the 'lining' is hot pink) - my browser won't let me insert a link. sigh. in the end, it was a pretty quick decision. I went to Nukuhiva, but couldn't find anything there I liked... and then went to another store, tried on several pairs, liked these the best for both comfort and aesthetics, and I got them. done.

^ hot pink sounds like fun :wink: Love touches of it ... one of these days I'd like some hot pink or raspberry shoes. Also purple ... all of these are pretty hard to find.

@Jina: yay about the shoes!

@Red&Navy:
I think teal and mint would be gorgeous together! Not so sure about mustard though.

@Twistelette: those sneakers are so nice!

@Eizhowa:
I really like the IDEA of a small wardrobe but I love my clothes to much to ever be able to narrow them down to only 30 or 15 (!) pieces. I have been wearing a lot of the same stuff during the winter though because only a small part of my wardrobe have been able to keep me warm enough.

Me: I have made a decission. No more purchases for me for the next time. I really feel my wardrobe working nicely and I need a break from consuming. I have not decided wether I will allow myself to get the things on my musthavelist if I should stumble upon them. I know that I would hate to pass on something perfect but somehow I feel like I would rather just ban all shopping. It is easier. And since my wardrobe is working fine without a breton sweater or a white blouse, why would I?

Also I have removed two things from my musthavelist. The nude ballet flats and the black blouse. Somehow I do not really feel like I need them.
