Betina, I stopped by your blog recently and saw the navy one. I must say I preferred it to the green one as well. I think you suit green, but I think a dark navy is better for winter than a pale green. Hopefully you will have better luck this one than the last:wink:

Blackcoffe: Thanks for the rec! I'll definitly check it out:smile:

Ta-ta: I found a picture that I think kind of shows my coloring. I am wearing make-up, but I finding one where I am not is a herculean task:D I've cropped it a lot, because I am not entirely comfortable with posting a picture of myself online. It was taken in doors near a window, so the colors might be a tad too warm. Not sure how much help it will be. Of course I'll gladly listen to your suggestions:flower:

I think I look good in darker moss greens, cognac shades and maybe burgundy. Keep in mind that this picture was taken the last week of summer. I am never tanner than in that picture:wink:

Jinadaze: I feel like the light camel color of the scarf drains me of all color. Maybe if it was a little darker. I just don't feel good in the scarf. Also, after I have sold the scarf, I will only have a loss of 60 NOK/10 usd. I've already found a buyer:wink:

Betina, I agree that navy sounds like a nice change from the green!

eizhowa, hope this doesn't come across as creepy, but from what I can make out of your picture, you look incredibly beautiful. I must say, however, I think I may have a yellower skintone than you:

Also, that photo was taken today with the most ancient camera ever... I was telling my long distance boyfriend about how much I liked that one blazer I mentioned a couple of pages ago and how good I thought I looked in it. He asked to see it (neither of us has a phone with a camera  thus the ancient camera). He agreed and offered it to me

Thank you, Barbaraa:heart: So sweet of you to say! Don't worry, not creepy at all:D

When I was looking though my pictures I noticed that I looked a lot more yellow before. I think it was my apple-addiction (the fruit, not the brand) that caused the yellowness. I ate at least a pound a day. It seems to have faded somewhat now.

I like the look of that blazer. Very pretty detail at the shoulder!

Ah, that could be it... I think apples (along with other things, like carrots) have some thing that helps people tan - on non tan people like us, it just makes us yellow

I do understand that you want to stay away from blues and black, when I had slightly darker hair (I don't change mine drastically - just one or two tones below my natural colour) black drained me tremendously. With your hair colour (which btw is fantastic - I definitely understand why you mentioned it as having a big part in the way you dress), I can see black not working...

I don't think I can be of much help - however, I think you are in the right direction, mossy green sounds like it would look perfect on you. And I definitely think burgundy would look good too. Burgundy is my boyfriend's favourite colour on me because, and paraphrasing, it looks good with how pale I am, yet makes me look less yellow  and I think it's the kind of tone that is red enough to look good on your skin, yet dark enough not to look weird with your hair. Redder purples (what are those called? In Portuguese we have two words, one for the bluer purple, which is more generally used, and another for the redder kinds) could look great on you too, following that logic.

Wow, eizhowa, you look sooooo beautiful! I can totally see camel as a Color that might suit you? And mossy greens must be very pretty for sure, and chestnut...

@Nymphaea: I feel your pain! Finding a good winter coat is such a drag.. Have you checked APC for cashmere sweaters (not sure of your budget)? I really love the one I got from Twistelette.

@Eizhowa: oh my gosh, you are so beautiful. You have some really lovely feautres. Sorry - just couldn't not say it. I think camel would suit you really nice, but I am in no way an expert.

Thank you for the advice about the parka. I have been feeling the need for something else. My boyfriend also voted navy - he rarely cares but felt really strongly about

@Barbaraa: sweet boyfriend of yours. Nice to know that you got the blazer - I know you really wanted it. I do not know the slightest bit of portugese but I am so curious to know what the two words for purple are  Please enligthen me.

Parkacoat: The coat I am looking at is perfect but I have a couple of dresses that are longer than the coat and therefore they can not be worn together. I am not sure wether this is a problem. I can not buy a parkacoat that is longer since it would look ridiculous with my height, and I can not wear a wool coat through winter since I would freeze so much. I am not sure if this will be an issue since I probably would to prefer to wear my cape with those dresses anyway, but I could use some advice, ladies.

I tend to wear my cape or my trenchcoat for fancier outfits/events during the winter and therefore the parkacoats lenght will not be an issue, but I just recently discovered a nasty stain on my trenchcoat, and it did not go away after washing it. I will invest in a new one, but not before spring. I might die the other one. But it still leaves me with only the cape, which does not have a lot of lenght neither. I need help!

Betina - we usually use "púrpura" for redder purples (which is similar to "purple" in sound and writing), those closer to crimson; and "roxo" (which ironically sounds like the spanish word for "red", "rojo") for either the general spectrum or for the bluer tones. There is also "violeta" which is violet, like the flower.

I don't see any problem with wearing something longer underneath the coat. I've had short coats before, and I would have to go pantsless if I followed that logic  I can see it looking somewhat weird, but I don't think it is bad at all. Maybe your cape can complement your coat on that. Can a drycleaner maybe take care of your trench?

eizhowa, you are so beautiful, and I love your coloring! :flower: I imagine a tan color would probably look better on you than camel? Definitely mossy greens, as you mention, as well as olive and rich blues.

I have soft, muted colors, and am definitely a camel type of girl. It is probably easier to find basic colors to suit me, but it's harder to achieve the kind of striking effect you can, as I completely disappear in rich, strong colors. I am a bit jealous!

Thank you for the nice compliments, RedandNavy, Caramel and Betina!:D

I think I will try to find sweaters in various sweaters the next time I am shopping in town. I'll look for something burgundy and camel. I really want camel to work. Maybe I can find a darker camel/tan that will suit me. The Acne scarf was "light camel", which was not very becomming on me. I made it look green-ish (in my head).

Betina: What you need is a dress coat. I have one in off-white to wear over my knee length coat. I also have one in green velvet and wool for winter.

Caramel: You are probably onto something there. I've always been told that everyone want what they can't have. I wanted straight hair all my childhood, just like all the other kids had:wink:

"the fruit, not the brand".... you are so cute, eizhowa. :flower:

Hmm ... eizhowa, I would think from the picture that you do have the coloring for camel, but it seems that perhaps you just don't like it. I did immediately think of green when I saw your picture, then noticed you were wearing it  I think perhaps you have a preference for deeper colors/strong contrast.

Parka: I actually went ahead and ordered a parka that seemed to fulfill my requirements. I'm not yet sure whether it will really fit though. It is supposed to arrive in a few days, I will let you know. For me, this is definitely a very hard piece to shop. A good down coat would still be an option if this doesn't work out but it's not easy to find something nice that isn't ridiculously expensive.

Camel Acne Scarf / Eizhowa: where/how will u sell it?

@Red: what parka did you order? Maybe you could inspire me. Hope you'll like it when it arrives.

@Barbaraa: well, pants is an exception but I think it would look a bit silly with the cardigan e.g. sticking out from underneath that coat. Or a silk dress for that matter. But really, in the really cold months I mostly wear jeans and things that are short enough to fit underneath the coat - besides from that cardigan, so maybe it is okay.

Eizohwa are you still looking for a coat?
I saw some really nice pieces online at Whistles and Hobbs (within the 200£-300£ bracket) and at least 70% wool. I also fell in love with some Love Moschino coats, still within the same price range and 80% virgin wool. You can see them on the outnet: they have it in kaki, red and black. It is also available in midnight blue at yoox.

Parka: for NYC and Geneva/Zurich freezing winters I always use a Woolrich parka & the woolrich dove coat. There is a nice selection on farfetch if you want to have a look. So far so good. They are expensive but they hold well (but I really wear them periodically so maybe that's why?)

Camel, welcome :flower:

Blackcoffee, thank you for the recommendation !

Barbara super nice blazer and even nicer boyfriend

If anyone has an iPhone there is an app called closet. You take photos of your clothes, say how much they cost and put together outfits. Then it keeps track of how often you wear an item and what the cost per wear is

^ That is awesome, thank you! :flower:

EvaH, I missed you so much! How are you? Leave ma a mail when you will have time.

Finally the COS mid-season sale arrived and none of the four wool trousers I have on my WL are discounted. :( Not a single thing from my WL in fact, but I really wanted to buy a woolen pair in October and 100 € (with the shipping cost) is a little out of my budget.
I found the grey dress I love though, but not purchased yet. It's from Ganni, made od viskose and wool. Nicely discounted also.

@Caramel: curious how your boots look.

Here they are:

ecco.com

I've decided to let them go if I can get a decent price for them. I might give up on ankle boots completely as they all seem to look very odd on me.

@Caramel Thanks for your pic of your boots. I think I can see your duality. It's a sturdy boot, but the sole is kind of soft. But well that's of course my opinion. :flower:

@Betinapple Great you bought the coat! I'm still contemplating, haven't found the perfect one (and thanks all for your brand suggestions), there is no time pressure so I will keep looking around. I like the color blue more than green for myself.
I also encounter the same problem with the longer dresses, I don't have a coat that works with those dresses. Most of the time I wear them when it's warmer or a wrap or something is sufficient enough. But I hope to solve this problem with my homemade Jil Sander coat and after that I want to sew a dress coat like Miu Miu.

@eizhowa you look lovely! I want red hair! :P (I'm blond) I agree with everyone else about your colors, I think moss green would be very nice.

@barbaraaa Nice classic blazer, love that detail of the shoulder, great boyfriend!

@RedandNavy Curious how your parka looks and if it ticks all your boxes!

@Jinadaze Did you purchase that dress? I like it, it looks elegant and also comfy.

Ta-ta: I think you are right. I remember my 9th grade picture; All the other girls was wearing pale bluejeans and a pastel/colorfull top of some kind. I was wearing black jeans and a dark green top:smile: Camel is a very nice color, but I don't like it on my self. It looks a bit washed out on me. I will try to keep my eyes open for darker camels and try that.

Jinadaze: That dress looks so comfy and nice. My problem with dresses like that is that I tend to forget to take my clothes off to go to sleep when wearing something that comfortable... too comfy...must sleep:cool: If none of the things you liked were discounted, it probably means they are too good too be discounted. Not an all bad omen.

RedandNavy: I was planning to sell my scarf on Finn.no, which is similar to trendsales in Denmark, but I think I've found a buyer in my family.

EvaH: I've missed you too! The belt detail on that Love Moschino coat you are lusting after is really beautiful! I hoped to find something like that, but I have kind of given up on that at this point. I could never find one in a color I liked.

I actually think I have found a coat. It is pure wool, 3/4 length and has a black/white textured pattern, so it looks grey. Hopefully the seller will agree to ship to Norway and I'll win the bidding war.
